    Help with Vectra diesel intake

Hi all, finally got my diesel intake and i've noticed that the pipe to connect to the air intake on the diesel one is noticeably larger than the connecting pipe on the stock intake from my corsa. Wondering if anyone who's fitted one to an astra or corsa has any information on a workaround for this.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

best thing to do is to cut the feed of the airbox to a diameter that will fit the pipe.

cut a small piece of pvc pipe, glue that to the airbox and connect the diesle air intake to that.

Well tonight i started modding the airbox to fit the new intake... I got some 65mm poly pipe to attach to the airbox which fits the extension on the intake perfectly.

First i cut the pipe to a manageable size and then started to grind off bits that were keeping it from sitting as close to the airbox as possible.

then after it was fitting nice and flush with the airbox i cut it to size and siliconed it on.

just waiting for it to dry now, intake is screwed into the engine bay to replace the old one, once its dry i'll fit it all up properly.

for those who haven't seen it again here's the size difference..

Thanks for the pics Click here to enlarge

Not being into fluid dynamics, can you be sure this is a good thing to retain the original inlet diameter?

not sure..it may have been better to cut the pipe off altogether, but would have been much harder to get a solid join from the pipe to the airbox..

though the box is derestricted..so that may help..

i did very similar on the combo, but i just put the pipe strait over the stock 1, it made a big difference on the baby Z14XEP Click here to enlarge. even with the small diameter inlet to the airbox, but thats gone now, well the top of the airbox atleast, and a pod in it's place Click here to enlarge.

Reedaaron, did you cut an opening in the top of the grille to allow air to enter the new inlet pipe?

there was already an opening there...mine's an 03 sri.. but we had a look on Dee's which is an 04 sri, and there's no holes at all where mine are.. so more suited to mine than the newer ones.. i suspect the older sri's are the same as mine though..
