so i am trying to clean the top of my pistons before i put my head back on as they have a lot of crap on them from 10k kms of driving with ****ed valve stem seals.
i have been using Throttle body cleaner and a dishwashing brush (Plastic bristles) and rags. i have been scrubbing for ages and gone through a whole can of throttle body cleaner so far.
I am worried about using abrasive as i dont want to damage the piston tops so i have been avoiding them, does anyone have any recommendations for what i can use to speed the process up?

This is before I started

this is after several hours of scrubbing and soaking piston top overnight....

Just clean off what you can. You'll end up getting shit stuck between pistons and liners and will damage the bore.
There are ways to clean them within but will need compressed air to blow the debris away straight away.
-
i have been using a vac, rather than compressed air, but it seems to be picking up the debris.
-
Leave it on... crap = high compression! :D
-
Tune it on E85 that will keep the gizzards clean

@mickos I was thing methonol injection, for that steam cleaned look [emoji14]

Could get some flat top pistons in there :) new and shiny, and increased comp ratio. Best of all worlds :P
-
....increased comp ratio is the last thing I want in a turbo motor... Will see how the engine goes with the power, probably have to do the bottom end at some point in the future. Will go forged pistons and rods then.

Didnt realise it was a bososted engine. No idea how to clean these without taking the pistons out so crap doesnt soil the rings.
