Mine would be the shitty interval for the cambelt change.
Mine would be the shitty interval for the cambelt change.
Ha ha, you should have bought the CDTI instead, needs new belt every 150,000km :)
That's normal on most if not all auto transmissions used by Opel - it's part of the 'warm up' cycle/time program on the autos...typical Japanese automatic function (yes alot of Opel slush boxes are Japanese made and supplied) !!! ;)
Usually settles and all normal after the 1st 5minutes or so of driving in cold climate, but usually up to speed after only a couple of minutes in hotter climates after start up, then they start shifting just beautifully :) at least the unit on the V6 Calis do anyway :)
That's pretty good, most people would end up selling before having chaged it once...
Is it a steel chain in the TD's or a rubber/synthetic belt ?? I know for eg. on engines like most V8's with a twin row steel timing chain, there's actually no change interval...it lasts the lifetime of the engine ;)
It's about time too that more and more 4 potters and other small engines got the same, the new Audi IL5 turbo also users a steel timing chain rather than a rubber belt, I think the new Mitsubishi 2.0ltr MIRVAC series employs the same :)
only instead of chain they screw tensioner instead
Once upon a time I owned a mid-70s Datsun that had a steel timing chain too. It's not new technology. I think the original move from steel to rubber belts was to reduce noise and harshness. Probably kept steel on the hipo engines due to higher durability.
Dunno which my CDTi has.
1. Anyone remember the billions of issues my Corsa had?
2. I still love how random bits fall off it.
3. I've only seen one other Corsa on the road that still has those stupid rubber strips at the front, I only have mine still because I've replaced them twice now.
is not steel... but lasts 100,000 miles in UK and only 150,000 km here :)

Yeah best to get that water pump done when anybody is thinking about doing the belt .........
