So looking at getting a negative scanner to start scanning all old photos we have at home. Have seen kaiser bass and qpix as 'name brands' , or are the Chinese knockoffs on ebay fine for the job as well?

Don't even consider those little ones Pete. They are shit
The negatives came out all grainy and not very clear at all, quite a disappointment
I bought 2 different brands and returned both of them.
Ended up forking out the cash and buying an Epson V300 (now a V330 I think)
They are over the $200 mark, but the quality difference is huge.
About the cheapest I can find

Used to sell the high end canon printers that had the adaptor in the door so it could scan negatives... They were pretty sweet, but its been 2 years since I sold one so I would imagine they would be better
Cheers guys.
Looks like that Epson is the way to go. May ask for it to be a Xmas present.
