Spray Painting

Hello everyone,

I finally want to get bits of my car spray painted. They include:

1) Front, side & rear bumper moulds;

2) Door handles

3) Front surround for Irmscher grill

4) Remove bumper, sand back silicon from bottom air dam, spray and refit.

I got two quotes, one for $575 (1 day) and the other for $600 (3 days).

Sounds a bit dodgy that one says they can do it in 1 day and the other 3 days.

Is this a good price for this job??? If not, does anyone else know where i can get a good quality job and at a good price???

hey dustbug, there are a few other opelaus members that are keen on getting their cars colour coded also.

what places have you enquired at so far?

see if they would do a group discount for opelaus members - and if they do a good job will get a good plug on our website with thousands of members :D

that sounds ok. i'd go for 3 days. paint needs time to dry. got all that done to mine for 400. cash only he told me. turned out pretty good. hope this helps.

Thats what i though. The dealer is called "Jade" and they are in Alexandria Sydney. They are a VW specialist panel beaters. They did my mates new golf tdi and he loves the job they did. Last time i got my old peugeot done, i wasn't happy, which was the place that would do it in 1 day.

Well if you want to get your cars done let me know, i'm thinking of booking it in within the next week or two.

I'll be very interested to see how this goes when you guys get it done!!! I'm busting to get the mouldings and door handles done, but I'm afraid it will look ****e, and especially with the handles, the paint will scratch off easily.

i need the side, front and rear strips (moulds), door handles and the roof strips (black plastic strips wher you attach roof racks) all colour coded.

1st question i'd ask before doing anything is '2pak or acrylic?'

If its not 2pak itll probably get blown off by a good high pressure washer.

i get my VDUB serviced der aswell.. panel beaters and mechanics.. and they do great job.

I was gonna ring up this week to get prices and book in, but my i think i may be going away in summer holidays and may need to save.

So i'm a bit iffy at the moment about whether i should get it done or not.

i'd like to do it soon, but it's not number one on my priority list, gotta get a sunroof and wheels first too. And maybe by the smooth mouldings for the CDX, at $150 per door.

that's ok gentlemen, i will call around (Jade's including) and get some quotes and most probably have the colour coding done in the next couple of weeks...

ummm i'm probs leave it, cause you need some plasticy parts, like the side mirrors and stuff.

Up to you though

P.S. May be able to get it done, found cheap flights for my holiday, budgeted $1200-$1400 but can get for $850 :D

As in the roof rails? If so I'd highly reccomend you do get them done. The SRi has them done and it looks great.

i looked at the roof rails, but I can do those myself i reckon with paint. just mask the area off. as they're flat, so it's not an issue about the texture
