Post up some pics of ur car (especially Astra Gs) if u got 17in or 18in wheels on em, also let me know what suspension youve got in it, what stud pattern the wheels are (4 or 5) and most important how much the wheels were!! Cheers!

mate you can get a wheel and tyre combo in 18's in a huge selection for under 2 grand...even less.

just make sure you get the right offset and the right profile tyre and you can fit 20's.

5 stud ( 5x110 ) - 18x7.5 with a 45 offset - 215/18/35 tyres - I got these from my local bob jane - Cost me a bit under 2k fully fitted and balanced.

Here is the information I used from the astrasport forums, To help me decide.

Also consider your load rating when going to an 18 inch wheel with 35 series tyres.

This is a common question and asked daily...i hope this will help you in the future.

The astra mk4 can take big wheels without any arch work and with a low drop. If you are willing to modifiy the arches massive wheels are possible.

16'' ...... these are fitted to the astra sri as standard so will fit fine although they can look a little small still. If you wanted to fit aftermarket wheels in this size these are the golden rules:

Maximum width to fit without mods on a 40mm drop is 8'' The offset needs to be between ET 40-49

17'' ..... Again these are fitted to the Gsi as standard so again no problems!! For aftermarket wheels this is the size range you need to stick to:

Maximum width to fit without mods on a 40mm drop is 8'' The offset's can vary though depending on width.

8'' ET 45-49

7.5'' ET 42-49

7'' ET 38-49

18''....These are big wheels that can be fitted to the astra with no mods as long as you get the size correct, if you dont you may have to roll the rear arches as room at the rear is tight the bigger the size wheel you go.

Maximum width to fit with a 40mm drop is 8'' The offset's can vary though depending on width.

8'' ET 45-49 With this width if you lower anymore than 40mm the car will need to have the rear arches rolled.

7.5'' ET 42-49 This is the perfect size wheel and if you get the correct size you can drop it upto 60mm with no arch work.

7'' ET 38-49 This wont really fill the arch that mush but does mean you can go a little lower on the offset.

19''.... As with all cars any size wheel will fit if you are prepared to do the work. 19's do fit but wheel size is not only very important but also very rare. Room on the rear arch is the main problem with fitting 19's. To fit 19's this is the size wheel you will need, so that minimum modification is requiered with a 40mm drop:

7'' or 7.5'' ET 42-49 these are very rare though and will require you to roll the rear arches and relocate the rear bumper bracket. You will still get rubbing with 4 people in the car but it wont be too bad.

Any bigger will require serious work and a lot of modification. It will also impare the handleing and driveabilty of the car.

In Genral a 3 door hatch has the least room, with the 5 door, saloon and estate having a fraction more room due to the design of the car. Coupe's and convertables have even more room which means you can go for slightly different offsets but the best are listed above for all models

Those wheels above look good, go for the 18's.

Good info by Mad 16V, follow that guide and you'll be right.

With the correct width and offset you can fit up to 20's on and Astra G, which has been lowered 40mm - that's what I've got on mine........

My advice is to try to stick to a maximum width of 7.5" regardless of diameter and an offset (ET) of no less than 43mm and you will steer clear of any clearance and full turning circle issues, going to 8" or 8.5" inch widths, starts to create issues if your car is lowered, even if you have an ET of 49mm, you may need to roll guards and mod inner plastic liners as well.

:ihih:A refresh of this old thread!!.Does anyone have any real world hard driving experience between 17s and 18s on the astra g sri turbo.Apparently the chassis are best suited to 17s but how much of a difference will 18s make.Looking at team dynamics pro race 1.2 but also looking to upgrade brakes to 322mm later sooooo anyone GMAN:ihih:

adam_92 can help with this, he has had both, currently has my old ah turbo 18s.

On my VXR I have 18" 1.2s and they are awesome!

As aaron said, I had the factory 17s and now have mk5 turbo 18" pentas. They are a bit wider so you get more tyre down on the road, but from what iv seen, 17" tyres are cheaper

The rim will fit on but the bolts wont line up in the centre of the holes properly once you tighten the bolts

Technically yes you can. Needs wobble bolts or adaptors though
