Well its really all dependent on personal taste. What looks s**t hot to me may look tacky to some one else.

But generally i tend to think Euro looking mags suit Astras very much. As opposed to powder coated, colored or other such mags that you see alot of on Japanese made cars. I was at one stage thinking of going the option of a bronze/gold or white rim on my car. But have finally decided on a gunmetal type finish. Looks tidier and a bit more classy on the car i think. (Yet to buy them...but they will be mine!)

As my Esteemed Collegue above said.
Euro Made Rim look the Dice on a Astra.
Chrome Looks Gay Unless they're Lowenhardts or Lorinsers  but @ $1000 per Rim in 17"-18" they better look the Goods.
I'm a BIG Fan of MAK Wheels, They're Standard Equip. on OPC and are Reasonable Priced @ around $380 per Rim for 19" and $300 for 18".
But when in Doubt go BBS in Silver, They suit ANY Thing.

i reckon BBS RK wheels would look AWESOME on any astra as well as OZ superleggeras and F1CUP. the BBS RK costs just over 2000 for wheels alone. OZ are closer to 3.

the other thing is the the stud pattern, most of manufactures don't really make 5x110. and u have to get the offset right coz getting it wrong can mean that even 16s can rub. for 17s u'd generally wanna get offsets definitely above 40, above 42 to be safe. a slightly higher offset(>42) if u are going to run 45 profile tyres.

hope that helps

I like the BBS RS wheels but at $615 a piece, I have found that Speedy wheels has a hyperfang which looks the same at a third of the cost.

I my opinion chromies look crap on the astra, also remember depending on the colour of you car diferent mags might look better then others.

It took me a good 6 months to decide what mags i would get for my car.

The guards would need to be rolled up with 19's no?

we've got good taste

getting 19s in isn't a problem at the front. the problem is the rear where the rear bumper bracket is. that's where most of the tyres will catch if your offsets are wrong. u can fit 18s in if the offsets are right, with no mods to arches.

matG had to relocate those rear bumper brackets so he could get those wheels on! oh well, he had to relocate a few other things on his car, too :P

I'm looking at 19"x 8" MAK Fiorano's
The Same Size has Been on the Car(BBS and Milia Miglia) and that was with my Low Springs and 45mm Offset and they will only Rub on the Rear with 3 Overwieght Person in the Rear, No Guard Rolling.
But If I choose to get the Rims, I'll be Porta Powering the Rear Out.
19" on Bump Stops sounds SEXY :D

I love the MAK Rave

http://www.makwheels.it/catalogue_en/arc_foto/rave_1.jpg

I have seen a set on a silver astra 3 door, they looked great!

The only problem is that my insurance company (NRMA) will only let me go from 16" x 6" (standard SRi wheels) to 17" x 6.5".

Apparently NRMA base all their calculations on the smallest wheel on the Astra which is 15" x 5.5".

Nobody makes 17" x 6.5" wheels

Anything but chromes..

Personally, i hate chrome wheels. They dont give the car a racing look, which i like.
ALl show IMO.

I've got 17 inch chrome ame priders. they look the shit... based on a three peice design, so they have these awesome gold studs that really catch the light and bounce it off!

I will be upgrading come asfb to 19inch AME GOLD. If they are not available I will go for an 18 or 19 inch in a similar style.... I reckon it would look awesome when I get the H&R ultra low springs put in and the turbo front bar and sideskirts!
