Well i had to bite the bullet did the 60,000k service today. 1500 dollars! Couldn't believe how expensive it was. Had the injectors cleaned disc machined, new brakes on all 4 paws and wheels rotate. Also had a replaced rocket cover seal and radiator hose.

Coudln't believe how expensive it was!

Don't they do the timing belt replacement at the 60K service too?

How's it been handling since? Have you noticed a decent positive kicker?

I would have only gotten the timing belt chaned. Everything else is easy to do by yourself or with the help of a mate.

I would never pay 1500 bucks for a service.

btw. Its a rocker cover :)

eplaced rocket cover seal and radiator hose- under warantee?

how much was the 60k service and how much for the brakes?

you should always get a quote before you leave your car at the dealership.. saves drama's later on

Rocker cover Gaskets must be a common think on them. Mine leaking too. Having it replaced on the 75,000km service.

Rocker cover gasket is only a minor issue. Its a 20 minute job and parts are only 30-40 bux. Radiator hose is very common on Euro cars and is only another 40-50 bux. The expensive part of the equation is the brakes!!
For all 4 pads and machining of all the discs, i would guess it cost you $500 and 3 hours labout at 80 bux or so, so about $750 (half the service cost). From what I understand about astras, 60,000 is a pretty good effort from these sorts of brakes.
Word of advice about the injector service. Dont get it done.
All they do is clean the tips and spray with glen20. $150 seems pricey for that.
I work as a vehicle maintenance controller at LeasePlan Australia and see this sort of service every day. Would cost one of our cars about $900 for the same thing.

Hmmm yeah $1500 might sound like alot but it is a european car and they cost more to service, i work at BMW and have seen some ridiculous prices for services! And like mentioned before, don't get the injector service, its just an upsale and really isn't required especially at 60k!

Im due for 120k service, should be interesting what they quote me up!

i used to be a service advisor for a holden dealership and the 'carbon clean' injector service is the biggest waste of time... sorry but have to agree with the other guys... all you did was make the service advisor a little more money in comission... i have done 60K serv on cust cars and it has cost them over 2K easy.... how old is the car? rocker cover gasket should be warranty... and gen brakes are very very expensive as you now know and they arent that great.

hoses arent covered by warranty but you'd find there was nothing wrong with the old one. again just an upsell... ask for the old hose back...

Very good, in fact she goes like a rocket. Problem is that i keep on hearing a squishy sound everytime the motor turns and the car is hot, all i can think off is my water pump might be on its way out. There was another part that holden had order for the car under warranty that would take 2 weeks to come in, so it might be that however i have to give them a call on Monday to double check.

Not sure how most drive their cars but i will soon be in for my 90,000km service and there is no way in hell they will be changing my original brake pads as they stilll have a few years life left in them. The Rotors on the other hand are approaching their use by date. They didn't mention them at the 75,000km service.

Isnt the water pump part of the major service? If they did the timming belt then they would have done the water pump too right??

might sounds stoopid but taking your injectors out and cleaning them yourself doesnt really do anything.... you need to take them out and send them to an EFI specialist get them to sonic clean them then flow test.. they'll come back like new... as for the water pump noise... sounds like it... but again how old is car? warranty? and if its only just out of warrant you can ask them to do it under good faith and get the dealer to have their warranty DSM look at it... but yea "BLUERAVEN" that was <<PRICELESS>>
