View Full Version : Misadventures with Vectra CDXi tires

In trying to avoid a manic sportbikie leaning over the centre line, I shredded 2 tires on a ragged shoulder south of Kulnura, NSW.

No drama, but did learn a few lessons:

1. Optus mobile coverage sucks in the boondocks.

2. Small town dealers rock. Central Coast Holden in Gosford were incredibly helpful and courteous.

3. The OEM Goodyears for the CDXi are rare birds, with that weird 215/50 R17 size. There were only 2 available in the Holden suppliers inventory, fortunately both in Sydney.

4. At $340 a pop, there have to be better alternatives. (I can see paying that for good performance tires, but not these.)

Are there any Vectra CDXi owners on the forum with advice on non-standard tire fittings, i.e. alternate tire model & sizes that work particularly well with this car? I saw the thread on changing the speedometer settings when tire sizes are changed.

Thanks in advance.

Michelin Preceda 2 come in that size.
Pirelli make tyres in that size.

puddlegum,

I replaced the tyres on my 09/2003 Holden Vectra CDXi with Fulda Exelero 225/45ZR17 91Y (Made In Germany) :D
I then got the Tech 2 to recalibrate the speedo. (If you need futher info on that let me know.)
I paid $1009 at Bob Jane;
- 4 tyres
- Nitrogen
- Balance
- Wheel Allignment etc.

The ride is heaps better, less tyre noise and heaps better grip! :D :D :D
