ooooh thats nice!
I seriously think Holden should re-consider the Corsa, as recent reports on the safety of the Daewoo one are bad, and is ruining the image on both the Barina & Holden side of things.

MatsHolden

Gee it's nice. Would have bought one had they still been out here, have to get an Astra now. Yeh Pauly it would be good if they reconsidered, but it would only happen if sales of the Daewoo sourced Barina drop drematically. It will be interesting to see if the poor safety rating affects sales.

there is no way that they would go back now...

bring it over and sell it as a Corsa at the price bracket it was orginally intended.

unless some changes are made at Holden witch i seriosly dout i am going to be getting an Astra

there is no way that they would go back now...

Not within the next 5 years or so, but in the future it is possible if the Daewoo sourced product doesn't sell sufficient units.

Yeah, I had changed the Vectra over to blue dash lights for a while and changed it back to yellow just before I sold it - I think I preferred the yellow backlighting - it was a lot more clear than the blue. Plus I remember reading somewhere that red/yellow backlighting is best for night driving because it doesnt affect your night vision as much.

OH MY GOD....

I so want one!!!! I'd happily trade my XC now.

Hell, rip out the Tooling in the GMDAT factory and make the new Corsa there if its cheaper to do so (and the quality can stay the same).

HOLDEN - GET THIS CAR HERE NOW!

They should bring it in as a HSV Corsa that way people will have somethin other to choose from then the astra.

the TK Barina shouldn't be in showrooms any longer than 2 years i'm guessing.

I read somewhere that Opel well help design the next model

Nah mate, they won't bring it out as an HSV if it isn't a mainstream Holden sold car, too expensive.

U'd think that Holden would get on bended knee & beg Opel / GM to build that car as is in Korea, if it means making it cheaper for them to import here & make more money per car...

I don't think the quality of build would be as much of an issue, rather the poor design, ride & handling the Koreans provide on "their" cars...

Heck, send kits to korea & get 'em to glue them together if it's cheaper..... The cost's & exchange rates really are the only reason Holden stopped importing Opel sourced Corsa's....They make more money per car now, sell more & couldn't give a toss to the previous customers they've cultivated over the years. "It's business, nothing personal" someone once said in a movie.....

Cute looking car... considering the daewoo barinas are selling well for Holden, i dont see them reverting back to the Opel ones anytime soon.. shame

cyclonic

They're only selling well because of:

*Price
*Barina's previous reputation (say goodbye to that!!)
*Equipment level

That is correct, and also the fact that most people who by them don't know who make them. They just think Holden make them and because it's the new Holden Barina then it must be better than the previous Holden Barina. Not realising that in fact the XC Barina and TK Barina are entirely different cars.

Red AH SRI T
20th May 2006, 10:18 AM
it was once found in a survey that over 50% of customers thought the previous Barina was built in Australia

Shows how much people in this segment really know!

Well the public should be educated!

Basically they think they're buying a Holden whether its actually an Opel or a Nissan or an Isuzu or a Daewoo, if its sold under the Holden badge, the ignorant will think its made by Holden.

Is it me, or do you think Holden just made a HUGE mistake timing wise in not getting this car to Oz? To me it looks SO much nicer than the new Astra, it ain't funny. It leaves the current Daewoo "Barina" for dead... Now all we can do is dream & say "what if?"

Whats the old saying, short term gain, long term pain! This will apply for Holden with this vehicle. BAD DECISION GM HOLDEN, it will come to haunt you....

It won't come to haunt them, as GMDAT will be responsible for development and building of the next Corsa, which will mean that Holden may have the Corsa back in Aus, post 2010. I think the Corsa D and Astra H aesthetics are on par with each other. The Corsa D is only going to have a life of about 4 years.

Group buy from Europe I say. anyone know if it's doable? ie compliance and cost?

MatsHolden
9th June 2006, 01:17 PM
Not worth it for the cost mate. And I can imagine insurance companies would hit you hard for a privately imported vehicle.

blackSRi
9th June 2006, 01:28 PM
Depends on if there's an official warranty and support, not always a killer cost though - depends on risk and agreed value.
