Power increase and LPG system; the Steinmetz Astra P.GASUS has uncompromising power right to the limit and is fitted with a fully sequential LPG system. Everything the heart desires and without a guilty conscience about the wallet or the environment, as one of the fastest Steinmetz Opels can be run on either LPG or petrol. For Steinmetz now the term: "Gas up" can be used in the truest sense of the words, on a GTC on which almost everything has been changed.

Engine/silencer: The standard power levels - already impressive - of 176 kW/240 HP have been raised by a further 20 HP by the Steinmetz engineers with optimised mapping. These extra 20 HP are available to the driver running on both LPG and Super Plus. For better transfer of the additional power, a Sachs sports clutch has been fitted.

For the rear, a new twin tailpipe silencer has been designed. The only point left unchanged under the rear section is the central position of the silencer. The rear skirt and new twin tailpipe will shortly also be available for all Astra OPC.

Suspension: To improve traction and handling, working in collaboration with Drexler Motorsport a limited slip differential has been developed which exceeds all expectations. With settings from 0 – 75 %, driving in cities and on the track becomes a real pleasure. Complete with racing suspension, the Steinmetz Astra P.GASUS offers pure driving dynamics!

Aerodynamics: The front part of the Steinmetz Astra P.GASUS has been totally overhauled. The front skirt has been styled in an exciting design with air inlets for the brake cooling. The front skirt and upper grille insert present the new Steinmetz front grille Type II. This front grille Type II differs from the previous design by the vertical double spokes and larger honeycomb form. As a result, the entire front looks more purposeful.
The Steinmetz sports mirrors fit harmoniously into the flowing lines towards the rear, and over the tailgate is fitted the characteristic Steinmetz 2-piece roof spoiler. The body is completed by the rear skirt and new twin tailpipe silencer.

Interior: The Recaro bucket seats give the driving feel of a real racing car. The new, lower seating position for the driver also has a positive effect on the overall weight distribution of the vehicle. Further modifications include the aluminium handbrake handle, the 3-piece aluminium pedal set and the sill plates.

Wheel/tyre combination: As a world first, the new Steinmetz ST4 Bi-Color alloy is presented in size 8Jx18 ET 38. The aim was to develop a weight-optimised 18" rim in a unique 5-spoke Steinmetz design. The name Bi-Color comes from the black/silver appearance. The brilliant appearance is achieved by the finished surface. The resulting light reflections have the desired effect of making the ST4 rim into a true eyecatcher. For further distinction, a hub cap has been designed in ST4 Look. The Astra GTC is fitted with Cup tyres which provide the finishing touch. The combination of all components leads to a "race car" for everyday use in which every kilometre driven is fun.

its a shame all the steinmetz bits for the Astra H (hatch, coupe and vxr) look a little over the top and glued on. Just take a look at the stupid roof spoilers... whats the point? And i agree with Shaun, the seats are about the best mod made to the car!

hate that front grill...

the 2/3rds of a roof spoiler looks cheap...

and the rear bar makes the car look tall and skinny like a suzuki super carry...

i hate the steinmetz kit...

but would love to have a 190kw LPG engine in the cally :D (paid $1.56/L on Thursday for 100 octane)

That styling isn't a patch on the factory VXR styling.

I can only see one part of the LPG system (yellow arrow pointing to it), the round cylinder part with hoses attached to it...i could be wrong.

Overall i like the look of this car...
also i like the concept behind power\economy\environment (the environment part is 50\50 as natural gas is not a renewable source of power, but much friendlier than petrol)

your wrong, that looks more like the wastegate actuator then the lpg system.

with inj cars usually there is another thing in the intake as the lpg isnt run through inj of sorts rather a large throttle body type thing and is sucked into the cylinder head.

to me it looks heaps better then the stock VXR. but thats just me, i just wish they would hurry and arrive already....

Thats old skool dude, the factory LPG system for the corsa c uses direct runner lpg injection (looks like a fuel rail for petrol, injectors and all). Seen them on ebay for around 380ish.
You couldnt run dual fuel unless you made a new inlet with two injector bosses per runner or the 'older' setup you described, but then you would assume SIMILAR levels with the proper ECU map

GasResearch touched on this, dont know how it went, $2k up i think.

high performance LPG performance stuff wont be readily researched as it causes less petrol to be used and doesnt have the power of petrol :p:rolleyes:
EL Predator - 4.0 litre SOHC straight six. SVO Supercharger. Straight LPG.
Power outputs: 230kW @ 4900rpm:eek: 468Nm @ 4100rpm.:eek::eek:

LPG is 110 RON isnt it?

and in 2/3 years it is going to cost the same as Petrol when fuel exsise is added

the biggest problem with lpg is the inconsistancy of the fuel itself.
The companies change the blends all the time. Sometimes it smell like a BBQ others its a cigarette lighter ie propane and butane.
If the fuel was consistant then the perfomance would be, but you would find it hard to sell a car that was 200Kw one week and 185Kw the next just due to fuel.
