So, they simply took the rear of a BMW X5, grafted on the front end of a Toyota LandCruiser Prado, with a Honda CRV front bumper and SsangYong badges and VOILA! here is your "new" CEO!

How can they get away with these blatant copycats?

I believe in the future chinese cars will change the entire Global automotive industry, Its a matter of time before they begin to dominate vehicle sales worldwide, just like they have done with electronics and other products , we will be flooded with cheap chinese cars that other manufacturers cant compete with. We may laugh at the vehicles they copy but it will happen.

i wouldn't mind one... cept i'd die if i hit a street lamp post going 20km/h

they have the worst crash test ratings evar!!! but the idea's there... steal the design of whatever looks good... think about it... if a car had an ugly rear end but a sweet front and a nice interior, wouldn't it make sense to copy that car but steal the rear from somewhere else?...BRILLIANT!

The problem is that idiots will buy them, because price is king and never mind the quality...

Hopefully these things will never be homolgated for sale here. Atleast untill China can produce a vehicle which carrys the same safety credentials of cars which are sold here. The Jiangling Landwind scored Zero on the European NCAP test. Who, in their right mind, would buy such a dangerous car? As was said in the article, the engineering of this car is stuck in the 1990's. Poor build quality is one thing, poor saftey standards are another.

I think the Chinese government needs to take action if they want there automotive industry to be taken seriously.

Guys!! Things that we made in China are not really that bad at all. The bad ones are only those products managed and manufactured by the chinese. A lot of 'made in China' products go through a very very tough quality control/management system. Count the amount of consumer goods for example stuffs in your room like your LCD monitor, your Microsoft keyboard, mouse, your speakers, your computer case, your printer, your webcam, your digital camera, your mobile phone, you shoes, your shirt most of them, if not all of them are actually made in China!!!!!

I can imagine, correct me if Im wrong, there should be at least 30-50% of parts in my AH Astra that are made in China!!!!

If its not the china manufacturing market, we all have to pay loads of money for everything we buy!!!!!!!

Just to get the perspective right here guys. But I would definately not buy a car like this anyway :P But at least for another 10 years I imagine. You never know what the chinese can do.

If there's 1.2billion aussies then
1. The Monaro will still be in production
2. We'll get the Sandman in production
3. We won't have to buy cheap Korean cars 'cos we'll be able to build it here ourselves with Aussie know-how.
4. Yes.. we will need more pubs.

Oh..and for all those who use IBM laptops... well they're now Lenovo's *damn*
