Hi guys,
ive just been reading some threads about how many km's people get off a tank......
I drive a Barina SRi and im getting around, on average 380 km per 39L....
My worst is 300 km.
I would be interested to find out what others are getting, (ALL CARS WELCOME)

i average probably 450k's a tank in my 03 astra SRi - city driving (and not driving conservatively at all)

highway driving - probably average around 600k's tank (best was almost 700k's)

all of this is on optimax 98 RON

Hey buddy,
Like i said, i would say i get around 450kms in city/freeway driving. I drive a stock 04 Barina SRi. Could prob get to 500kms if i let it run right down. I don't rev it past around 2700rpm. It is possible... just drive around like you're cruisin:cool: . I also hardly use the air con, coz it sucks performance (and petrol). For instance, from full, out of a quarter of a tank i just got 135kms. As i said, i do not do this all the time. Sometimes those revs do reach 6500rpm, but not that often

Oh yeah, and on Mobil Synergy 98 RON. Just started to put in 95 Premium. No performance difference, but it'll be interesting to see if there's any fuel consumption change

04 astra sxi - city driving is between 550 and 600km every time.

country driving, well just got back from a round trip from sydney to tamworth and got a little over 700kms from a tank of fuel.

i use just normal boring fuel... non of the more expensive stuff AND i always drive with the air con on. i hate driving with the windows down so for allmy driving, windows are up and air con is on!

04 Barina... lately, before the pod came off and the service, like 350kms to a tank, and all laidback country driving, now...

about 500kms, a mixture of town driving (note, not city driving) and country/highway driving.

I basically use a tank a week.

Oh yes, air con is on sometimes... depends. Weather is cooling now, so not as much.

91 calibra, about 450km's per tank, drive it hard most of the time.. over 500km's when i drive normally.. use 98ron.. country driving.. yet to run a full tank country stylez, but doing m7 runs all this last weekend, half a tank 350km's.. not bad for the old girl..

never use air con, always pop up the sunroof and passenger window down..

i drive a Veccy V6, on city/normal driving just over 600kms, highway 760kms (maybe more), mostly on 98 RON, it is a 60ltr tank as well.

13th March 2006, 05:39 PM
I get about 400km from 50 litres of 98 octane stuff. There's a lot of stop/start stuff in that.

I get much closer to 600km on highway driving.

04 AH Astra 1.8 getting about 580kms from 40 litres since thats all I seem to put in it when it tells me I have 20kms till I run out of fuel. I hardly think its going to use 13 litres to travel 20kms.

I get approx 420km to a full tank on my H using that premium 98 vortex high octane... whateva peeps call it. I did 1 tank drivin wif a/c on all da time n 1 tank wif no a/c and there was like 3km difference to a tank. my old '92 mazda 626 did 325km to a full tank which was bout $55 now im gettin 420km for $60 much happier... now i only visit my servo every 4 days

does ur car have a pod filter stock? like the b18c motors in hondas?

because my mate just bought a corolla and it has so much induction noise for a stock car!

Last fill I was BAD I only got 320kms but i can almost bank on 360-370 before fuel light goes on. Mostly purely city driving, VERY short stop starts, and freeway umm WOT

Ill be able to give you a long distance one in a few weeks as Im going to Lakes Entrance for a week, got Holdys :D:p. Will be the ONLY long trip done since I got it 8mths ago, everything else has been local.

According to the book, we're supposed to get 5.4lt/100kms (800km/tank approx calculated) so we shall see.

it doesn't matter how big your fuel tank is or how many kms you get out of a tank.

what is important is how many kms you get out of X Litres of petrol.

no one drives their cars until it runs out of fuel, most ppl do when it reaches 1/4, u cant compare apples with oranges.

to get L/100km, divide distance in km, with number of Litres you have filled up with.

Astra Turbo, mixed urban driving, approx 8.8L/100km

Depends on how i drive, but on a good fortnight i'll get about 500 out of a tank (2.2L), but with hard driving anything down to 300 out of a tank! averaging about 400/tank at the moment :( as above post... getting about 13/100 at the moment with the 2.2L!

13L/100km, thats a fair bit for a light 4 cyclinder car..

has it gone worst recently with similar driving, if so perhaps check the air flow meter..

but yeah most ppl are suprised about the economy the astra turbos get..
normal driving, i get under 9. In the first week i got the car averaged 13L.., but then again u dont drive like that all the one.

02 sri beepbeep i get 550 no problems from a tank mostly using 95 pulp or whatever you want to call it. tried driven like a granny the other week untill i had to do a big trip down the hume and i would have easily got 600km out of a tank

Yeah, it's OK if i drive carefully... I get about 9L/100 with 'normal' driving... but traffic, plus hard driving, etc = bad consumption, i do give it a bit of stick sometimes :) Let's say, on this tank, i've driven 60km and the 'timer' on the trip computer is 2h and 15mins..... So that's SLOW! Stupid traffic :(

nah panel filter ;) lift the airbox lid tho and its adds a bit more noise :D

My Old Veccy: 10L/100km in crappy town < 60km/h traffic
The WRX: 11.5L/100km in the same conditions as the Veccy (am v surprised at this)
The Astra: ~10L/100km in same conditions but only because my wife is a very uneconomical driver and loves revving the t!ts off the thing.

my corsa wasn't "eating" much, about 5L/100km on a highway and 6L (max 7) - city, but now something happend... 10L/100km driving very carefully  i'm going to change my air-filter and check spark-plugs tommorow...

a lil bit of an offtopic: what are the prices for fuel in Australia?

I did a bit of a high octane test with my Vectra over the course of 8 weeks. My daily commute involves a 25 minute drive to and from work, mostly on 80kph to 100kph limited roads. There was only one tank that was used for a long run, which was up to Toowoomba and back.

After the 8 week period I averaged 7.83L per 100km. 2.2L Vectra, on nothing but Shell Optimax. I was pretty impressed, and I still average probably around 8 - 8.2L now (I don't really keep track that much anymore, and I tend to rev a bit more now that I've taught myself to heel-toe since then :o ) I should point out though that I didn't alter my driving technique while testing, I just hung around the fuel pump a little longer to copy the data down from the bowser.

a lil bit of an offtopic: what are the prices for fuel in Australia? :rolleyes:It varies depending on where you're living, but up north in Brisbane here I'm experiencing prices between $1.15/L to $1.25/L or so... $AUD of course :)

I'm getting around 550-600km a tank. Fill up once a fortnight if I can stretch and drive carefully. If I don't then i'll fill up nearly once a week.

One of our delivery guys has just (2 weeks ago) got a Combo C.

I asked hows the fuel usage, his reply today was 680Kms/42lt, city driving and this guy is a courier. He says he doesnt like to take his cars over 3000rpm.
