They certainly are getting that 'futuristic' look about them now.

It's nice.

definiately, looks good.

One thing i don't understand... why does Holden go into trouble in designing and showing the concept cars (Torana, UTEster, SSX,SST,Sandman...) when in the end we get Daewoo Barina, Daewoo Viva, Daewoo Captiva...and the Vectra replacement Daewoo "whatever the name"... yet the Europeans get the 2008 Vectra with the Torana parts.

Extra Extra.

VECTRA takes on a new look disigned from the team at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne.

News Flash:

VE Commodore becomes the new 2008 Vectra....

If you look closely at the rims the centre caps appear to have the Holden Lion Logo on them.

Looks good though

...exactly!
Holden designers work their backs off to give the Australian public cars they want (design, safety, level of standards and so on) and in the end its another country (countries) that will enjoy their Torana\Vectra and the Aussies get a Korean\Australian "improved" design!

I understand that times have changed and more and more people stay away from the Commodore\Falcon cars...so why not change the production line and build some Barinas\Astras\Vectras(TORANA) here in AUS? Holden used to build the Vectra Station wagon at their plant, (at that time the 4cyl cars didnt sell that well and it all fell apart) why not now?

See, i was hoping to upgrade my Astra to a Vectra in couple of years... looks like i will have to go somewhere else now...

PS.
Those wheels would look great on an Astra AH

You're getting a little confused!

The pics are just "chops" of other cars that people have put together to speculate as to what it MAY look like.

The second pic is just the Torana CONCEPT car that has been changed a bit.

The Torana was only done as a CONCEPT to get people used to upcoming Holden styling themes ie the VE Commodore.

So yeah, the Euro Vectra with have NOTHING to do with the Torana concept car.

its looks Good. Much better then the current Series Vectra in Australia. But in saying that the Series 2 Vectra overseas is a lot more refined now too.

I wish they would release a car based off the Torana. That looked like such a fresh car... If those VE "chops" in one of the recent "Wheels" magazines are anything to go off, I'm actually pretty excited to see what the VE will look like, as from memory it looked pretty closely linked to the Torana concept also...

Yeh the VE is closely linked to the Torana in terms of it's aesthetic design, as the Torana was put out there to assess public reaction to the future of Holden design, hinting at what the all new VE will look like.

Holden are certainly doing some cost cutting!

The monaro is gone, I highly doubt they will put the torana into production let alone the turbo V6 (which I would buy in an instant) to compete with fords animal. I was never really into ford, but holden got complacent because they were on top for so long and thought they were untouchable. They didn't realise that Ford and other manufactures had lifted there game in a big way. Now Holdens paying for there ignorance.

The ZC Vectra would have been a huge success if Holden had negotiated the pricing with Opel better than they did. This car was marked from day one becuase of this. First impressions are hard to change.

The Commodore, these not even 1 decent colour in the range. The "new" 6.0L V8 is using technology from the 1950's. Yeah it might have throttle control and a few other bits but it's still a single cam push rod for god sake.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Holden man, but they've had the day for now

whats wrong with a push rod?

I like Impulse blue!

The reason it is still push rod and not DOHC like Holden wanted to build for VT is that a 6.0L 90 degree V8 with DOHC would not fit in half the cars that it would be designed for. TOD and Variable inlet and exhaust cams will be in the LS2 for VE...

At the moment the vectra is parked in the garage as I use the CDX Astra company car. Our company is planning on changing the fleet to Vivas (the base model , with no ABS). Holden have lost me as a customer if they expect me to buy their re-badged Korean rubbish. As for the company Viva, the fleet manger has an argument on his hands at the moment.

I understand, but an engine certainly dosen't need a massive displacement to produce big power.Ford (again, I don't like giving them credit, but credit is due) are using a 5.4L DOHC V8 producing upto 320KW as it is but they are currently developing VVT for this enige, imagine it's flexibility then. Holden maybe introducing variable inlet and exhaust timing with the VE commodore, but the fact is, it's a single cam engine, you can't adjust the timing of the inlet valves without altering the timing of the exaust valves.
