Ok so my conti sports contacts are wearing a little smooth (something to do with them being a soft compound and my excessive speed in corners i'm sure) and i'm looking to buy new tyres (preferably ones that last slightly longer than 15000 K's) but i'm also wondering about going slightly wider on the tyre.. i have factory alloys (16") and the tyres at 205 55 R16..

My question is can i fit a 215 55 R16 in this rim and if so are there any issues with doing so?

Woody,

I posted a reply a while ago and questioned what tyres people recommended, but I ended up settling for the TOYO Proxes T1-R. I haven't bought them yet but all the research I have done suggests that they would be the pick of the bunch and great value for money around the $200 mark.

tah but i was actually asking about width of tyres and whether or not 215's would fit on my stock 16" alloys in place of the 205's i currently have.

they would, but you would get alot of tyre roll and lose alot of drivability. in my opinion, if your wanting more grip, dont go wider, just get better tyres!

who said anything about grip:confused:

Conti's are the best gripping tyre i've found in a long while, wider just looks cool!:D
