As we all know (well, most of us), HID kits provided much better illumination of the road as they give out better light output. Here's the bad part, if you fit the kits to normal reflector-type headlights you have the beam going everywhere, and dazzling oncoming traffic in most cases, whatever it is, its not being used effectively.

Projector headlights on the other hand focus the beam pattern and pretty much none of the beam is scattered and/or wasted. These suit the HID kits nicely. The only problem is that most cars don't come with projector headlights from the factory and aftermarket ones are expensive.

Well I was looking around for HID kits on the net when I found these:

AND

...but only the Bosch units have RHD versions

What are they? They are projector pods, which will suit almost any application with some work, eg. measure, cut, appropriate mountings etc. And you can mount it inside your current headlights, as seen here http://preludepower.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210754& (Clicky!)

Even though these are another option for you, it isn't exactly legal in Aus as I've heard that only factory fitted xenons are legal or that you need self-levelling headlights. Well my point is that for those of you who dare (and have lots of patience and do good handy work), you have something else to do to your beloved car.

Pretty affordable option seeing as HID kits in Aus range from $400 upwards and projector headlights from the UK are about £140-200 http://www.lmfvauxhall.com/prodCatalog/default.aspx?deptId=44&deptIndex=6

If you're not so confident, get a second pair of headlights, I've got a spare set around here somewhere 8)

Hope at least someone has found this helpful. I'd give it a go myself if I didn't already have my heart set on a VXR! I want to see someone do this to their Opel. This has at least got to tempt someone, cmon NUTTTR, we all know you love fiddling about with your astra ;)

What I'd really like is to fit Bi-Xenon headlights with AFL (adaptive forward lighting) to my Vectra...

or for anyone who can read German (I can't :( )

Looks like you need:
new headlamp assemblies
ballasts/controllers
suspension level sensors
new light switch

...plus of course finding a dealer who knows how to enable it all with Tech 2... it's never going to happen is it...???

Well, so are non enclosed pod filters...

AFAIK, the astra xtreme is a one off, so doubt you could get the headlights off those.
