run in period is 1,000km as far as i know.

but i bought a car a month ago (Happy Birthday to my car :)) and the dealer told me to drive it normaly from the beginning because all of the "run in" stuff is done while they are building it....

If its an H the run in is 3000.

apparently you don't baby it for a certain number of k's anymore. your supposed to do something like sitting on 80 in 3rd gear and then flooring it to 100, then back off to 80, and floor it to 100. something like that.

of course you'd do it on a freeway with minimal traffic.

Just dont sit at the same speed for long periods of time.

Drive it like you stole it...hehe

na seriously drive it like you would normally drive it, put it through its passes as you would normaly do. ie. slow and quickish launches, variation of high and low speed driving, regular gear changes etc etc...

The days of tightening down heads after 1000km are gone, the first service now days only consists of a 'check up', nothing else!!!

Thanks guy's, I just came back from my first service, 1500k's, i was looking at 18 inch rims for it at holden, bit pricey though, its an astra classic TS 2005, i love it. how do i put pics up of it?

What are some common problems that occur with atras? See, i bought mine a 2 weeks ago, and as soon as i got it, my front demistor grill began to vibrate. it was ****ting me up the wall, so i put a nice system in it. hehehe

timing/cam belt MUST be done at 60,000 km's....DON'T buy rims from Holden unless they're dirt cheap...go to an aftermarket store..

Is it normal to be able to hear your valves? coz mine seem to be, well not to loud, when the bonnet is shut. But when i open it, i can hear them quit clearly.

My front demister grille vibrates like NO tomorrow, just turn up the music and all rattles disappear (whilst rapidly growing in the background).
