Hey Everybody!

Nice Fourms.
I'm from SA.

I drive a 1993 Astra 'F' Hatch 140 S - Over here its called the Kadett.

Some info about the Opels we got/get in SA:-

The Astra/Kadett 'E' Series, (T-Car) (pre-1992)
8v Engines: 1400 - 2.0L
16v Engines: 2.0L

The SuperBoss was a 2.0L 16v (C20XES Engine), and had a Cosworth headm Schrick cams, and a modified ECU, as well as racing branches/headers as stock. It pushed 125kW and 205nm from the factory!

The BigBoss was also a 2.0L 16v (C20XE Engine), but made 10kW less than the SuperBoss. Power was rated at 115kW and 205nm.

Then the normal Boss, was a 2.0L 8v (C20SEL), that made 95kW and 180nm.

The Astra/Kadett 'F' Series (1993 - 1997)
All engines were 8v, except the C20XE 2.0L 16v, and the 2.0L 16v Turbo.

140 Carb - 8v
140i - 8v
160 carb - 8v
160i - 8v
180i - 8v
200i - 8v

200iE - 16v C20XE 115kW

200Ts - 16v Turbo 160kW(93-94) 150kW(95-96) (Only available till early 1996)

The 200iE and 200Ts had ABS, OBC, and full leather as standard.

The 200Ts was an absoulte monster! And a legend, second to the SuperBoss.

The Astra/Kadett 'F' Series - Euro (1997 - 1999)
Brought in from 1997, as a budget series for entry-level buyers.
All engines were fuel injected 8v.
1400 to 2.0L
Looked the same as the non-Euro Astra F, but no leather seats or ABS, and OBC was optional.

The Astra 'G' Series (2000-2004)
I'm pretty sure you are familiar with these Astras.

Ours in SA, were all 16v engines, from a 1600 to a 2.0LThen there was the Astra Coupe Turbo (141kW), and later
the OPC (147kW) 3-Door.

The Astra 'H' Series (Late 2004-Current...)
We have the 1.6 and 1.8 16V, and the GSi Turbo. All 5 door.
GSi Turbo makes 147kW.

Due in november, is the new OPC, (known overseas as the GTC)
which pushes 180kW.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

We also had the Corsa B and the new Corsa C, but we didn't get ANY 16v engines in the Corsa's. The top range Corsa B GSi was a 74kW 1.6, and the top range Current Corsa C GSi is a 1.8 8v making 79kW.

And we get the Zafira (Old-Shape), Meriva, Omega and I saw a Signum but I think it was a special order. Oh and the Tigra Convertible!
We miss out on a lot of the REAL Opels!
Like the VX220, the Astra VXR, the Monaro VXR etc...

I am looking at buying a second hand Astra G at the moment, so I hope to find some useful info here!!

Also, have a look at our local SA Opel OwnersClub Forums!
They are the most popular maufacturer-specific motoring club in SA!!

Car is standard, and staying that way as I'm getting an Astra G soon.
The sub box is experimental, that's why I haven't carpeted it as of yet, but its sounding very good!

The car is a 1994 Carburetted 1400 with 5 speed F13 Gearbox.
Its nippy for a 1400!
