One mean looking little Astra :)

Only gripe is the position of the exhaust under the rear bar, but the only people looking at the rear of that car would be everyone else on the road, so not a big deal :D:D:D

Hmmm.....The lease is up on my current astra in about 12months, i can terminate it early if i want, it will be a toss up between an SRi T or the golf

That is one mean machine...

I see they have moved the MAP sensor away from the heat of the exhaust...

Dont like the single exhaust in the middle, but you cant have everything now can you ! ! !

Does anyone know what that hose is in front of the Turbo???...it looks a bit odd

I love the central exhaust!! Lovely and symetrical!!

Shaun
10th August 2005, 07:19 PM
it could be a A/C hose . Also i see they have done away with the heat bag/sheild around the battery.

Nosleeping with anyone to get this ride
just in the right place at the right time
Im a member of vauchallsportcar club uk
and vauxhall is the sponsor, was a typical vocal aussie
following the bullshat on Top Gear on the club website
which happened to have the vxr brand manager looking at what we all was saying about the program (good to see the car manufactures are checking out what the buyers are saying) he sent me an email to get intouch and invited me up last thursday to take it for a spin. So far only the media and car magazines have test driven one, so yeah perfect timing hey even the members of my uk vxl sponsored club are calling me a bast*** lol not even the car yard salesman have got their hands on one yet, not until the 3rd week of Sept.
I like the centre exhaust, something different and with vxl releasing the vxr line body kits next month for the astras 5 & 3 door, it will be something that will make the vxr remain different to the 3 door SRi sports hatch if the body kit is added and the colour coded grille and wheels.
The 18" wheels are recommended over the 19" for handling etc and thats coming from VXR. 19" are for looks only.

the car you see is still not the final product that will be delivered to us customers. few changes still to be made eg rear roof spoiler etc.

i cant see holden bringing that out to australia. if they did it would be too much, or well they would market it that way anyway.

Aussie-in-London
10th August 2005, 08:31 PM
to much, do you mean in price?
if thats what you mean, its £1000 cheaper than the Mk 5 Golf GTi
and they aint to happy bout that either

Aussie-in-London
10th August 2005, 10:52 PM

i opted for red being vxr colours, blue opc and black and star silver, colour to be different lol

Anyone know which of those wheels are the 19's??.....The 6 spokes or the 10 spokes?

aussie_in_london
12th August 2005, 10:10 AM
6 spoke are the 18's which vxr recommend for handling / performance
10 spoke are the 19's - looks only and compromises the supurb ride and handling, i did ask the vxr brand manager what they recommend and it was the 18's so being the test cars being driven on these, 19's loose out on the handling and gain on looks only.

zoidberg
12th August 2005, 10:33 AM
I much prefer the design of the 19's but i can understand the handling compramise of them. I guess with less give in the 19inch tyre it would lead to unsetleing of the car

aussie_in_london
12th August 2005, 06:28 PM
well both vxr and lotus engineers recommend the 18's becuase its chassie and suspension charactoristics with set up for these, but as i was told, if u like to park you car and show it off then the 19's are right for you and if you want the car to drive the way it meant to with the performance to back it up then the 18's are the go.
I stuck with the 18's myself, in the metal they do suite the car nicely, wasnt overly impressed with the 19's when up close but its all personal choice at the end of the day plus i want the sheer performance to back up the hot hatch looks lol

im glad someone on here feels the same as i do with the 6 spoke
im not a big fan of multi 10 spoke wheels but up close these 6 spoke look nice, i wasnt overally impressed with the 19's
