Anyone here bought a new Barina 3 door lately?

I’d be interested to get an idea of what they are going for, drive away. As they’re currently at $13,990+ORC, my calculations suggest that they should be a little over $16k drive away, but we all know that you don’t ever pay full retail!

I bought one August Last Year.
$13,990 (Car Price)
$1390 (Goverment Charges)
$450 (Rego)
Plus all the other crap they Con ya to get, Paint Protection, Etc
Mine came to about $16,500

Hope that Helps

You might find it interesting to know that at that price the total amount of money they make on the car is only about $5, i know it sounds ridiculous however they do make a few hundred on the dealer delivery. So if you do purchase one dont get too offended if they tell you they cannot move on the price.

But anyways, Barina is an awesome car for $16,000. You cant beat that when you are looking for a quality car.

Just my 2c

Hmm, I paid $19K for mine, and it's a manual and I bought the mags seperate. Seems like I was ripped off.

I paid

$13,490 (yes 490) for the car
$1500 Dealer stuff
$1700 Paint Protection

Hmm, that only makes $16K roughly... hmm, but on my paperwork it says $19,602 and I currently have it insured for $20K with the mags and stuff. Something isn't right...

are they going to lower the price when the model comes out?

I purchased mine July 04, got one of the very first 04.5 models.

I didnt pay the stamp duty and rego becoz they were giving it away free during the financial run out sale and i did purchase it before June 30 <June 23rd> and they just didnt have any of the new models...till after release July 1st. I picked it up on July 6th after the tint and wheels were added.

I paid

$14,490 for the car
$1,495 for D/Delivery
$2,795 for Wheels, tyres and Street Legal Tint

You must also remember the new 05 model Corsa has the same MP3 player as the CD Astra. So for the price it is well worth the money...i shoud have waited another 6 months :(

How much is a Swift? I hate to admit it but it is a better car than a base spec 1.4L Barina.

Yeah dude, a mixture of being lazy and also I have had four manuals. I wanted a change.

What are the good bits on Corsa's from the 03 range???

* 4 disc brakes (instead of 2 discs, 2 drums)
* silver centre console and surrounds
* leather bound steering wheel, gear knob boot and hand brake boot
* satin finish silver inside door handles and gear knob top (and around dials)
* silver/gray seat belts throughout
* different front and back bumpers (easy to replace holden front badge with opel)
* nicer looking seat material

and im sure there is something i have forgotten...

From doing more research, it's starting to look like the Swift is *the* car of the moment in this segment.

Same price as a Barina 5 door but with more gear loaded in - ABS brakes for me are the big one.

And it is more powerful and has dealer options like cruise control and a stereo upgrade packet. Not to mention the ability to geta model with side curtain airbags.

Is this comparing to the current Barina or the new one being released???

Current Barina. No idea what the specs on the TK Barina will be.

Yes the swift is an exciting car. IMO go the base model as you pay $2000 more for the *Z* series and only get side airbags, 15" alloys and front fog lights. The base model has everything the *Z* series has except those mention ..base has 15" hubbies but same tyres. With the money you save you can get many factory options incl fog lights or buy a nice set of 18's and a racing stripe package

Before ppl ask.....yes you can fit 18's under the new swift as i have 215/35 R18 on 18X8 rims on my new swift. It aint insurance legal but it looks great

01CDsedan
27th July 2005, 09:00 PM
Yeah, if we get one it would be the base model. Don't think I'd be putting 18s on it though - just intended as something to get my other half to work and around town and nothing more.

How does it compare to the Barina generally?

dug74
27th July 2005, 11:31 PM
runs rings around them in all respects incl the stereo.
More sporty susp and better feel on the road.

Hmmm lets just say if the swift was released last July when i bought the corsa....i wouldnt have a corsa

Also the swift does the same 0 - 100 time as a 1.8L Astra.

Cheers

Good point!

When does this deal stop? Across the Holden range I mean???

I'd happily pay the extra $1K for the Opel Barina!!! But that's me.. and 1 December is that when the new ones are released???

Or look at a holden certified used one, when i got my SRi it was $17k drive away 2yrs left of factory and 3yrs of certified GM. A lot more spec for a little more money.

For those who haven't got a clue...

Paint protection is useless. All your doing is giving them a wad of cash they wouldn't have otherwise had.

I have a friend who has worked in the Automotive industry as a dealer for many years, including a recent 5 year stint at a holden dealer, and straight from the horses mouth... paint protection is a con.

Thats the same as wen they stoped the Sxi and and CD and just had the 3 and 5 door that they sell now. lots of little extras taken away for a few thousand. i am still happyer with my SXi to a current 3 door run out.

A run out Barina Blitz (tacky decal on boot promo get them out of the yard thingy) was $12k at Clarkson wen i went into to book a service.

with my holden pricing i saved 15% so i dont know why you only get $1000- off!?!

I'd forgotten about this thread, even though I started it :)

For those who might have been interested in what we ended up doing, in the end we bought....nothing.

We sold the old '91 Charade POS and decided that the $13-15k we'd need to buy a new Barina would look better on our mortgage than in our garage, so we're now both sharing the Astra. Working well so far, there have been very few times when we've both needed the car at the same time - and buying bus tickets, even interstate ones, is a lot cheaper than buying and running another car.

well instead of burning a music file onto a disc like u normaly would u burn it as a data file, an mp3. just like burning pictures or data files on to the disc, the CD player reads this and can turn it into music, u can fit about 150 songs on a standard CD

Nah, it's not so bad. From my point of view, I'd rather share my car than have my fiancee driving around in that awful tinny dangerous POS she was getting around in before. I feel a lot better when she takes it somewhere knowing that she's in a safe and reliable modern car.
