Guys look. I'm gonna get caught in the cross fire over this but...

As outgoing and straight to the point as people are, there are rules to be followed.

I think (I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) I got along with the majority of people that got banned - I can't actually think of many that I didn't. But once you step outside the boundaries of the OpelAus field, someone's going to blow the whistle... and there will be penalties.

I'm sure if anything that was said was phrased differently, they'd still be members.

Bernard: Unless people you refer to the site are unable to follow these rules, there is no reason why they should be banned.

I've no idea why all my best customers have been banned either :( , I guess the boundaries of what you can say on a public forum were over-reached............I'm sure the moderators had good reason..........Its just a shame that people with so much input are around no more, lets hope they come back soon.

We all have opinions about things, I'm just in the process of maybe losing my job because I gave my opinion about the guy who runs our garage, S**t happens.... All have been banned due to disrespecting and abusing opelaus and violating opelaus forum rules and the admin staff.

So there you have it all the information everyone wanted to know...

If these users have a problem with it then thats just bad luck because they brought it all upon themselves, so they shouldnt have anything to whinge about. We dont just ban people for the hell of it, we ban them for a reason.

If they wanted to continue being members on the site they should have just followed the rules as 99% of the other users do.

Its simple, stick to the rules and nothing will happen, if you cross the line(which all above mentioned users did) then banning or warnings will be implemented.

Unfortunately Banning was the option chosen due to the fact that what had been done was more then just crossing the line.

Ummm, by the looks of things, I wasn't unbanned.

I think there is something up with my IP, it must have changed, or something because I can't log in at work, and I can't login under autumn acid at home.

Regardless, I sent Turblue a message telling him, and Rhino.

At the end of the day, I couldn't give a rat's about starting anymore trouble - I learnt my lesson. Just relegating my time here to the cars and thats it.

Yeah, these are troubled times....

It seems a lot of brown stuff has been flowing, and I am not really sure what it's all about. All I can say is that I have tried my best, and so have the other guys, to try and keep OpelAus going.

I guess that it is plain to see that we have not achieved what we hoped. A friendly place with no crap, ridicule and cruel behaviour. It is bound to happen on a site this large. So in some respects we have failed. I believe that some of the decisions that we made along the way were in hindsight wrong. They seemed like good ones at the time. We have managed to cause some good people to leave for their own website, and in some ways that is sad for me.

I have given my best wishes to those that now prefer their own site for the community that it is. I have also stated that in no way will OpelAus interfere with them, or bear them any grudge.

It makes me really sad to see people 'at each other'. It shows that we have done something wrong. I am at a loss how to restore this mess to something people will enjoy once again. I am asking for support from you all to help me sort out the mess.

BTW, Don... You are quite correct, no one unbanned you. I have read your PM, and I am satisfied. You have my word that as long as we all respect each other, you will not be removed.

As for the others that were banned, I am certain most of you have rejoined under new usernames. And I will not actively seek you out. I ask that you email me for a chat.

Let's just stop blaming, accusing etc. let's sort it out. You may be surprised at what we can achieve.

Problem is, does the Administration team want to fix it ?

The way I see it is that OA can go two ways from here: 1) continue the long slippery slide downhill or 2) listen to its members !

Just remember that Admins are individuals - not the Borg.

We have minds of our own and not everyone is consulted or accountable for every action that is taken.

Perhaps this is part of the problem and more of the issues we face need to be discussed further before action is taken.

More info: Out of our total member base - only 25 people have ever been banned. That includes people that have rejoined using other names and we have found out. We certainly do not ban everyone we don't agree with.

Just keep in mind there a rules on opelaus, we've been good enough to give everyone a second chance on things, the least everyone can do is go by the rules from now on. EAK33Y, you should know by now that i am a very unorthox man and when i set my mind to something i belive, i WILL get my point across.

What Rhino is true, not all the admins here are consulted when a person has been banned or a decision to remove topics has been made. Most certianly, things would have been handled differently if all the admins were kept in the loop.

I was removed from my position for telling telling the truth to members on why General and Off Topic was removed... on another site. I did not call the other admin a tool nor did i give OA a bad name. I was removed because i quoted a post in the admin section where the person in question had said himself that he had been verbally attacked by members and that was his reason for the removal.

So the end result is i get removed from my position for personal reasons, not because i was unjust to OA and several other members get removed because they question this admins decision? Wake up and take a look at what you are doing to the members and to OA, coz ur taking away some of it's sronger members just coz you have a "personality clash" :cry:

Although this is a nice gesture and i do that the admins for it, it doesn't resolve the underlining problem of people abusing their powers.

Till that is resolved only then can that particular admin be welcomed at any OA cruises. That is the personal punishment i dished out for the personal punishment i recieved.

i must say to Opelaus admin, i was very disappointed with the lack of feedback after i was banned. i have email, and you have my email address, and no reason was given. if it hadnt been for a few ppl on msn, i would never know what happened. wasnt happy.

Well, what happened, and why were they banned.

When "blank" told me he couldn't find a reason.

The reason why I was banned was simple really - posting porn, starting arguments and having beef with admin - noone else to blame but me.

What if the mods came up with a reason as to why they were banned? This would immediately solve the problem.

I know on Fast Fours Forums, mod sends a pm highlighting the link, offence and period for which the member is banned.

Even though it wasn't spelled out for me, I knew why I was banned.

Maybe "blank" et al don't know why, and that's why they're angry... which is understandable.

i am also back, thanx to those responsible for it, yeah i dont have a opel, and im also a member of other forums now wether these were the erasons i was banned i do not know, as i had no feedback or warnings at all from any admin at all even after i had sent them a few emails regarding my banning as i was like wattie left in the dark as too why i was banned and the only reason i can see was bcoz of team opel membership that i have, and the same as the others that were banned aswell, as glenn has alerady stated we were banned for asking a simple question well jay asked it and we posted in the thread as youcan see from the copy that glenn posted all i did was say i didnt know hiding was bad now too me in my understanding that dont desevre a banning or even a warning, i dont see in the rules where it says that you will get banned if u make a slightly funny reply too someones question.


i think that if team opel site was called something other then team opel then i dont think that there wouldve been a problem at all and noone(well maybe not as many) would of been banned in the first place.


i think that 1 single mod/admin shouldnt have the power to ban someone, i think that they should have the ability to warn someone but not ban them untill all the mods talk it over and at least send the member a pm and talk bout it before banning them, unless its like pron, just a question aint enough means for a banning.

I took to it personally, and found it offensive - it was at that moment that I realised that team opel was nothing more then a social clique that had developed on the opelaus forums.

I thought, "hey, I've been banned from opelaus, so I'll log onto team opel" and instead I got banned.

So, from my personal experiences, both sites are as bad as each other.

I'll take everything with a grain of salt from now on, and I'm not going to take sides either.

This crap here - I've got better things to do with my time.

both site have there worth as has been said team opel is more a social site for a group of ppl that live near eachother, and opel aus is the source and the forum for all things opel, i believe that it is behind us well behind me anyway.
