Well it had to happen eventually but my beloved 99 V6 has gone to heaven. Holden need to be given a good *&^ headbut, since what killed my pride and joy was a cracked head. Repair bill from Holden $9000 (minimum). No amount of ringing around could find me a reconditioned engine and even then if I was going to be able to find one, a new radiator etc due to sludge damage was going to kill me.
I have loved this car but the repair bills on it have been somewhere between crazy and criminal. See below some examples for your own amusement
Timing Belt $1500
Knock Sensor $600
Ignition Coil $700
Plug Leads $300
Loss on Tradein $14000
Over the last 2 1/2 years of owning the Vectra I have done 90,000kms at an overall cost to me of repairs and writing the car off of $20,000 NEARLY WHAT I PAID FOR THE THING.
So I have made the cadinal sin and gone to the dark side and brought a Camry. Very boring I know but there is a reason so many sales reps have them (myself now included) They are bullet proof and cheap to maintain.
So I sign off guys maybe I will buy a Vectra again but not until the idoits at Holden reduce some of their offencive prices.
