BlueRaven from the Calibra site has had one in his car, it was a Zex system as well. He no longer has it.

Shortly after this his cat converter gave in, not sure if the NOS was the cause though.

id be guessing the nos would have caused it nos is fun but not the most friendly to engines

Before I had the chip and my extractors put in I ran a 16 flat and that was when my power was about 95kw at the motor and now with it all in I have about 130kw at the motor plus on top of that I have now extra 55hp with NOS so I will be running a 15s for sure with out NOS and I dont know with NOS so I will find out this saturday I will post my times on sunday I will be giveing it all Ive got.

the calibra 2L ran a 14.9 with 55hp nos although i think it was only getting 35 or something .you would have to ask blue raven

you! but have you tuned it to run the nos ?

andrew
22nd June 2005, 12:47 PM
Yes its tuned to run with or without the NOS

I would doubt you have 130KW at the flywheel without NOS mate. Chip and extractors certainly dont give you that much power.

if its not tuned for nos then u may blow holes in your pistons or blow pings

Well the engine dyno it went had that power output. because the chip I had put in took it up to 115kw and the extractors and the rest of the system as well as a bigger air pipe, better spark plugs and did I say that the chip was custom made to suit my car only that's why it cost me $2000 just for the chip so the last engine dyno was at 130kw and that was 12 weeks before I had put the NOS in.

$2000 for the chip itself, how much is that per kw?

If you have put it on an engine dyno, I wont doubt you. Just to let you know that your power figures are a huge increase for a chip and exhaust especially on a NA engine with no internal work. Money bloody well spent if you ask me, even if the chip cost $2000.

Beaware that because you have no internal work done that at 130kw you are reaching the peak of your engines output without further mods. Watch out for the NOS cause this will almost certainly end in disaster. Start planning for stronger internals before it goes bang.

i wouldnt run nos with a chip as timing is advanced unless it was programmed for the nos

130KW... that seems far too much for me.. which dyno did you go on.. and was it a dyno dynamic dyno in shootout mode as this is the only figures I would believe as numbers can be fudged easily.. oh but that is a roller dyno..

you said engine dyno.. you must have a good mechanic to want the use of a engine dyno as you gotta pull the engine out of the car to do that..

In about 4 months I am get alot of internal work done as well as the gear box at hte moment I am just geting the funds to do it. it's going to cost about $8000 to do what I want. it's going to stay N/A but later on in about 1 year time its going to be supercharged. On the 55hp shot of NOS you dont need to adjust the timing it just if I want to do the 75hp shot I have to play with the timing.
