I think the boys on Astra-sport (http://www.astra-sport.co.uk) ended up going for a boot release from a ford because it wouldnt close immediately after the button being pressed.

You could send RJ Automotive (http://www.rjautomotive.co.uk/contact.htm) a message and ask them how they did their astra boot releases. I know they were selling them as kits at one stage.

would u be able to go to a wrecker and grab one off a car with a solenoid in the boot release? commodores, daewos, fords all have them probably others too.

or....

u could get a very strong solenoid from a bowling alley. im a mechanic in a bowling alley and my friend at one stage thought about a solenoid in his boot release and we were thinkin bout using one from the bowling alley. they are very strong! they're used to trigger the reset assembly which starts the machine on its reset cycle. i reckon if u asked nicely u could get one very cheaply. most places have heaps of spares

probably about 60x40x40 or something similar. the pin going into the solenoid about 15mm diameter.

As mentioned before, u can use a Commodore one they are more than adequate for the job, and readily available.

Cheers,

Err, no they use a pull solenoid. U will probably have to rig something up for your applicaion , but shouldn't be too hard .

Good Luck,

Mark.
