I was quoted $795 to get just a Remus muffler (2x90mm) fitted on my Astra by Carshine Melbourne. That's pretty high but I suppose thats what you get for Remus. Anyone have a better option? The cars an Astra turbo.

I got a 2 1/2" mendrel bent cat back system and muffler for $750.

I can't imagine why a muffler would be $795 just by itself.

Remus is generally expensive.
I have been quoted around $600 for a dual tip muffler to $1000 for a duplex muffler system, both remus.
Just the muffler it self.

Anybody with a 1.8 ever thought of just fitting a muffler from the 2.2L or Turbo. Surely they are higher flowing than the original muffler.. and someone on here must be throwing them away when they upgrade their SRi. :)

Autospeed did an excellent story on using secondhand production mufflers from high powered vehicles on lower powered vehicles. Very effective and cheap.

Lets say using a WRX muffler on a RX/RS. Or a old GTR muffler on a 2.4L Pintara.
Even a Commodore muffler could be used if it fitted in the space available.

That price up above is about right for a Remus here in Melb.

Sebring would be just as much if not more.

Unfortunately name Euro brands are expensive, but then anyone who has them swears by them, so if you have da dosh go for it, at least they do look the part :)

For ur reference, would u go for the Steinmetz muffler astro boy? Quality is the same as AC Schnitzer (St and AC come out from the same factory line). or u can try out other specialized Opel tuner brands such as Lexmaul and Irmscher. Both are top-notch German brands, but are certainly expensive.
