I believe the only RH drive models were available in South Africa and UK. Several made their way to Australia as private imports (most probably used for motor sports). I used to have a magazine with a rather good article on them (suggest it has been chucked long ago). Very potent beast for their time. From memory power was a 2 litre twin cam. Performance was up there with the twin cam racing Escorts.
I'll look for the mag, but think it's long gone.

The one I was Handed is LHD and will stay that way.
Performance is Excellent for its Day(1973-1978) for the SOHC 2000cc Unit(Kaddett GT/E). The Ford Escort RS2000(DOHC) or Escort RS1600(Lotus DOHC) BDA are Quicker but they are Factory Race Bred Cars.
Handling is Tight with slight Oversteer under Power and excessive Cornering.
The Kaddet C was available in with 5 Engines, 1.2,1.3,1.4,1.6,2.0 SOHC Units. and in Various Bodystyles, Sedan,Coupe, 2dr Sedan, 2dr Suntop, Caravan(Panelvan) and 2dr Wagon.
In Holland and Germany Kaddetts can be Found with Opel Ascona 2.4 DOHC Engines(Like mine) and power ratings above 350hp Natural aspirated and 400-500hp Forced Induced.
Holland has Cult Following of Kaddett C, National Meetings held every year with over 2000 Entrants.

The Kadett was the Gemini that came to Oz. I thought they came in plenty of numbers coz I used to see a heap of them around during my high school years.

A Gemini is a Isuzu Built Opel/Buick.
In 1973 GM wanted to launch a T-Car to compete for the Small Car Market, The TA Torana had its day being under powered compared to its Rival Ford Escort.
GM's T-Car was a Joint Effort between Opel,Isuzu and Buick.
Opel supplied a Modfied Shell Different to the Opel Kaddett C
Isuzu and Buick Supplied the Engine and Driveline.
The Opel Shell was used from 1975-79 and was Sold as:
Australia: Holden/Isuzu Gemini(1975-76,TX-TD) with G161Z 1600cc engine and carried Isuzu Badging. http://www.isuzucarclub.com.au/75minxext.JPG
Holden Gemini(1977-79) the Models were changed over the Years Externally. Only Proper Opel Shell offered was the Wagon and Panelvan.
Americas: Opel/Buick By Isuzu(1975-79)G180Z 1800cc Engine. They didn't sell well. only Coupe and Sedan offered. Also a Vauxhall Variant was sold as a Chevrolet Vannette.
South Africa: Sold a Isuzu/Opel Gemini same Vehicle as Americas but a Utility was offered and was sold as a Chevy 500.
Japan: Isuzu Gemini(1975-79) Gemini was offered in G180Z and Economy Engine G161Z and only Sedan and Coupe.
After October 1979 the Opel shell was dropped for a New Isuzu designed Shell, 1980-81(TE) Interior was carried over from the Old Shell. 1982(TF-TG) a new interior was Offered and New Body Styling.http://www.isuzucarclub.com.au/81zzrts.JPG (Note: Isuzu ZZ/R not offered in Australia, 1800cc DOHC Powerplant)
April 1985 the Front Wheel Drive Gemini(RB or JT150) came powered 4XC1 1500cc and 4XC1T 1500cc Turbo, Only Non Turbo was offered in Australia and Basiclly that was the end of the Gemini here. http://www.isuzucarclub.com.au/6c.JPG (JT150 Turbo Irmsher R not Offered in Aust. Private Import Shown.)

I could keep going but that enough info, Considering this a Opel Forum not a Isuzu Forum.

Looking at the 2nd pic of the Kadett, makes me think hard about rebuilding an old KE70 Corolla like the one my dad used to have back in the 70's. Sheet I'm showing my age. I mean have a look at GAZ914. ;) j/k!

When I get my Own Place things that Will Happen:
My Kaddet will be brought down and Restored Original Condition
Build a Isuzu Bellett or a Datsun KH510 Race/Rally Car.
And Re-spray the Astra
