Just wanna say hi..i'm John

just picked up my 2003 Silver Turbo yesterday.. prefered blue, but the silvers not bad and the price was right... it was alittle dirty when i saw the car, but after a quick wash, the light silver colour is better than i expected

was very pleased with the condition of the car, no dents, 2-3 stone chips though and I polised out all the scratches bar one or two... looks pretty much like a brand new car :)

I'm in SE Melb and wouldn't mind looking @ at few astras with large sound systems to get some ideas..

also anyone know where to get springs to lower the car, H&R or Eibach make any??? pics?

G'day John,

There are soooo many options out there when it comes to suspension for the astra range...King springs, eibach, H n'R, Kmac....there all good, just depends on what you want from the car eg ultimate handling or a balance between that and comfort.

just search suspension in the forum

anyways, welcome!

thanks guys..

nice to feel welcome..

want the suspension for looks and comfort..

handling is not a high priority as long as its equal or better than stock..

i wouldn't mind getting a balance like my old mans car- BMW E46 with M sports kit/suspension.. ride/noise is very good considering its lowered, low profile tyres and the handling which is i think is superb..

I know exactly the kinda thing your wanting.....my uncle bought an E46 320i Sport about 5 months ago....the suspension is firm but compliant at the same time.

Pity any E46 <330 lacks the poke to go with the squat :?

Get some pics up Jimbo :)

the power delivery of the 330 and the SRiT is quite similar with the mid range being their finest points..

The BMW has alittle more poise though, and less wheelspin.. but remarkable they feel similar in engine performance

i'll get some photos up, my digital cam died when i went to take pics when looking at the car for the first time.. but then again, i'm sure you've seen a stock SRiT before! hahha

I think i did alright.. $24,250 for one that did 32,000km... interior is perfect, new (cheap) front tyres and replaced windscreen..

I was going to get a Clio Sport, but for similar money (for same KMs/Year) i couldnt go past the Astra

also most of the clio sports i've been looking @ had been trashed with dents and scraps.. i use the edges of the doors as a guide on how ppl treat their car...

i'm quite picky when if comes to these things.. fortunately my turbo -not single noticable mark that i couldn't polish out..

Wecome mate

H&R best ride and 45mm lower. Fits arches perfectly. for comfort you cant go past them. they are progressive rate springs and sharpen under load. a few online reviews will quickly reflect these qualities.

haha also been looking at clio sport as well - there is one selling at 19000!... they are a tenfold a better drivers car and the seats are tops. downside is that they are tiny and dont look as nice as an astra turbo.

where abouts did you find the astra turbo? have a link from the web?

45-47mm will fill the front arches perfectly for the Astra; pends on ur wheels of course, but should fit fine

thanks for the warm welcome guys

I've joined the Vic user group and am waiting for the next Vic meet/cruise to catch up with few of the guys..coz frankly i haven't driven past one since i got mine over a fortnight ago..

i wouldn't mind seeing what lowered (45mm) SriT looks like, even better if i could be a passenger of a lowered SRiT just to make sure i could live with it..

i'll either go H&R or Eibach for the springs..

anybody know if a 45mm drop would still make it roadworthy? or which Melb workshop they recommend to supply/fit the H&R or Eibach

clio sport seats are nice, but its alittle high, more van like than sports car height.. but they aren't put together very well... alot of squeaks and hard plastic.. i was looking for a clio sport for over 6 months.. but couldn't find a low km, well taken care of example @ a decent price... no point paying $24k for a 2002 when they were running them out @ $29k new last year.

but i'm happy with my decision re the astra.. easy to drive/cheap to insure/economical/reasonable amount of power...

found the car on carsales/drive/carpoint.. she advertised in a few spots.. i'm trying to find a easy to use webspace to upload some pics i took
