I know its come up before, HSV Importing hot astras and such, and Crennan said that they were gonna stick to the FR/V8 platform.
but by the looks of it, it may be closer to the truth than people think.....

FPV are going to be bringing out the new 2.5 Turbo (borrowed from Volvo) Focus with 320 Nm Torque at just 1500rpm. Its still fwd but supposed to be setup to get that power down to the ground
efficiently.

Brett

yeh but say it costs 50grand plus, then it has to compete against xr6 turbos and xr8s, and its a little focus with fwd? how do they plan on selling that. Its about time opel and ford make an awd turbo hatch, fwd just doesnt cut it with big hp figures

then it'll be goin up against the likes of EVO VIII's and STI's; and will be around the $50k mark.....

'd be nice though

Current Mini Cooper S sells for around the $50k mark and its going well.
On the flipside the 147GTA is more than that but you don't see too many.

Booyah! Although too much coin for not much car.

Walked by Alfa of Crows Nests garage as my mate lives in the same laneway, lots of Alfas being worked on

The GT is nice but too small, about the size of an Astra.

It would be nice to see Holden take on a HSV Astra project whole heartedly and make it into a truely great car. They tried it before with the old pulsar based astra and it was such a flop because it was such a weak effort. No improvement in performance, only a body kit really. Will be nice to see them break the V8 only mold as at the end of the day, V8's aren't everyones cup of tea.

Yeah, normally I wouldnt believe it either. But GoAuto is normally a pretty reliable source. Not to mention with all the management changes apparently happening around HSV (Anyone remember the article about John Crennan stepping aside for someone else to take the reins?) I wouldnt be suprised if their earlier comments about sticking to FR/V8 may become irrelevant.

yeah HSV should....yes, they'd probably cop a lot of flak from the die-hard commy fans etc; but that's wat they all intially said about the Coupe4 as well with the AWD....don't hear many if any complaints now...

Know someone who is getting rid of his 147 GTA... lack of reliability and ability seem to be the reasons for him keen to get rid of it.

If I remember the Astra SRi T was easily a match for it during BFYB testing.

hence, why I said, AUTODELTA tuned 147 gta

I'd rather a new golf gti over any hot hatch in the market anyway.

Found this comment on someone's sig block

"Driving a front-wheel drive hatchback with 328bhp is like playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun. It's like flying a helicopter gunship while drunk: you're going to crash, and you're going to die."

- Jeremy Clarkson on the Autodelta 147GTA.

got a report of the gti vs the astra vs 147.
sorry but they all down on power ( A LOT ) compared to the astra, not to meantion extra features.
don't know there weight but 110kw :(

auzvectra

smaller mags or no sports susp, no leather, no body kit, 147 no sport seats, gti no lumbar, no rear seat boot access, hti no trip comp, 147 no warnings on multi func, no rear maps on 147, gti no steering wheel controls, gti no tc, 147 no deadlock on doors, key locking boot only, gti no ESP.
sorry but i like all these features, so i dont rate them 2 well causea all these r missin, they do have a couple of ups but. not may but a couple, vvt (doesnt help much but ), gti sunroof standard, 8 spkrs, 147 curtain airbags and side airbags ( think we lost these cause of the leather as other models do get them as in our manual ).
they both retail $1510 more than the astra but too. so much more for so less.
sorry if ne1 really likes these, i'm just stating the facts i got here, n it's just my opinion. if i was to upgrade would b 4 an audi, cost a lot more but if i could affort it it would b worth it.
