Side strip and skirts blackening

Hey just wondering what everyone uses to make and keep the side strips on the doors and sills black.
Mines faded and is grey and looks absolutely horrible on my ts

What temp i dont want to melt them too bad

Should be some videos on youtube, hot enough to release the polymers but not bubbly melting

Due to a mixture of alcohol, having an extension cord already at the car and having a heat gun handy i just went for it and got the drivers side done already with great results.
Some advice for anyone trying this is DO NOT TOUCH THE HEAT GUN AFTER ITS BEEN ON AND DO NOT TOUCH THE PLASTIC AFTER HEATING IT AS YOU CAN LEAVE FINGERPRINTS AND ALSO BURN YOURSELF
