Hi! I am new member here in Brisbane.

I have a 2012 Insignia Sports Tourer, 2.0 CDTI. I bought it in September 2014 and love the car. Previous car was the 1.9 CDTI Astra Wagon, also a great car and it is still in the family, albeit in Melbourne.

The Insignia has developed the dreaded drone noise coming from the turbo relief valve a couple weeks back, I have it in with Motorama Holden as it is still under new car warranty. I am not too confident that they will fix it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Holden dealership which does good Opel work in Brisbane? Also what about when it comes out of warranty later in the year? I am thinking of taking it to Anderwald's in Sumner Park even though they are VW specialists. Are there any good Opel diesel people around Brissy?

Cheers, The Pope

You're not in Annerley are you?
I saw a black one around there a month or two ago

Hi Elliott, no not in Annerley. Mine is a Silver one. Holden Motorama diagnosed the faulty turbo vacuum valve yesterday and then part is on order. Part number is GM55573362.

Also they will carry out R-R-013 which involves adding a "Retainer, L/Gate, part number GM13441811" to the tailgate suspension strut.

So all in all a good result for me. Parts should arrive from "down South" in the next few days.

Hi Mate, is yours a Select Sports Tourer or just a Sports Tourer?

It's the Sports Tourer. Couldn't have afforded the Select even if one was available unfortunately.

And the good news is that Holden replaced the turbo waste gate valve and the DRONE IS GONE!! it was getting really bad so I am very happy with the outcome. I expect it may come back but at least now I know what the problem is and how to fix it. Holden told me the part costs about $95.

The drone noise occurred after warm-up and it tended to drone when backing off the accelerator or when just feathering the accelerator. It sounds like a cow mooing and the vibration can be felt through the pedal. The true test is to (1) drive the car a while to warm it up (2) stop the car and pop the bonnet while leaving the engine running (3) switch the engine off (4) gently drop the bonnet to the first catch point and this will almost always cause the faulty valve to release and produce the drone noise.

All the best,
The Pope
