Hi Guys,
Just signed up, been reading faneca's build thread all day today, can't wait to try and slowly mod mine much like his. Hope I can pick members brains every so often. I'm in Western Sydney btw.

http://i.imgur.com/fFa6sVA.jpg

Mine is the CD, so luckily, I only have to do 3/4 of the work Aaron did.(coincidently my name too)

I think first up will be sound, and the SRi-T front bumper, as I bought this car with a cracked front bumper. If you have suggestions, by all means, throw them at me!

Thanks for popping by!

Thanks, means a lot from you, only 139k, owned by some old fella in the richer suburbs of Western Sydney, lol. I mean, it still has the Thermal battery cover, lol.

Haha, up here in NSW I'm sure it would overheat the battery, lol. All clips still work on it though.

Thinking I will try and source the SRi T Front Bar like yours, then get it sprayed, I have a regular panel beater who quoted me $350 fitted, and will touch up the small scratches and chips with a brush, to clean the car up further. Then a sound system is a must for me!

Any idea what bulbs the main interior light, back door lights, and boot light is, haven't taken them off yet, but want to get some SMD LED's off eBay.

Welcome mate!

Tinted head lights and fogs I think would look cool, you can pick them up pretty cheap on eBay.
Like on mine, but yours will look more badass because it's black haha.
Definitely some lowness and some rims though man!
And as for those lights, they change size for the rear sides, boot, glove box and main light, they're really common, its easiest to just take them out and measure the length. Mine are all white and they look pretty damn fine:D

100%! Thinking the black angeleyes. These(expensive): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261189745464
With the smoked lens tail lights.

I would like some rims like faneca originally had with the chrome edge, and black spokes. Eventually drop it low.

Yeah man, they look good, a mate has those. I'd want the white LEDs though, like a Beemer. You can normally option for those, might look more classy with the black Astra too.
My tail lights I actually sprayed with that NightShade spray paint, it's like a transparent black, really good for layering, which is another cheaper option:)

Yeah, would go with the cool white SMD's. Same as what I will have on the interior, and hook the eyes are Perm on. Was looking at the VHT nite-shades at supercheap just then actually. I should start a build thread, but don't want to get everyone excited, as I will only be modding very slowly... lol

sri-t bumper is nice, grill is separate though. You can get nice badgeless slatted grills very cheap. There might also be members wanting to sell theirs (or an Opel grill). Also debagde the boot. You'll find holes underneath the logo but these can be filled up and if you're going to have a front bumper sprayed, they can do the bootlid at the same time.

I may just Opel the boot, as it is a Metallic paint, and a bitch to match. But def a debadged grill!

Not too shabby! I can't wait to nightshade my tail lights, be a mostly black rear end, maybe even Matt Black the Opel Badge ;)

I'm going to sound like an idiot, lol, but I was last wondering how hard to find a Tech 2 in Sydney, to get cruise control fitted, as I didn't think the CD had it, going along the M4 today, playing with some switches that I didn't know what was for(not advised) and realised I already have cruise control, winning!

Just spoke to Holden spares about the SRi T bumper, $680 with the mouldings, or $505 without. Anyone know how they come, and what mouldings it comes with? I want a bare grill, so if it comes with Ugly Holden logo, will get it without. Cheers.

Found one! $60, even comes pre smashed, lol. I'll keep an eye out, and have emailed off wreckers already. Nothing from them though. He does have the fogs listed, not sure if I should snap them up while I can or not, or wait for the whole kit.
Not sure what the cost is to repair a broken bumper, then sand and repaint it though.

Question, I assume no, but, if I put a SRi T Tachometer into mine, the Km's can't be changed to match current Km's? Not even with Tech 2, leaving car in reverse for 2 days, or clicking my heels together 3 times?

I just highly doubt I will find a Manual, SRi Tach with 140km's or close...

faneca
3rd May 2014, 08:39 AM
You can change them, by using an opcom, but if changing the cluster you need to make sure the one you get has the same top speed as yours.

StrickenAza34

Shit, so cluster Km's CAN be changed, awesome, might look at the wreckers for one then. Thanks for the heads up faneca.

Door cards are exact same as mine, the seats are from a 2 door hatch I believe as they have the mechanisms to move the front seats forward.

Just spoke to another Wreckers over the phone, $200 with door cards, for the CDX four door leather seats, but he doesn't have any at the moment, but told me to keep calling, as Auctions are Wednesday and Saturdays.

Think this might be better.
What's the diff between the door cards guy 27? Thanks for your help?

If your looking at getting leathers you will need to get them out of a either a 5dr hatch or a 4 door sedan, the 3 door hatches rear seats will not fit into the back of yours without modification.

Door cards are the same front doors are longer on the 3doors so you will need the leather ones from the car with the seats.

Thanks for that. What models came in 4 door, with leather on the TS's? CDX didn't come til 2006? SRi's were two doors? I'm assuming the seats above are from a 2 door, as the have the latch on the top.

yup CDXs came in both the TS and AH shapes, both with leather as standard. the TS came in either the 4dr sedan or the 5dr hatch so either of those will fit no issues. your car currently wouldnt have airbags, so leave them unplugged.

Mine has the front two airbags, but not the sides, wondering if I can get them connected and activated by a Tech 2 down the track, or if I am missing components to be able to activate them?

Will keep hassling the Wreckers for when they get some more leathers in, I'll get the whole kit, including the cards.

Yeah, think I'll pick one of them up if Supercheap is no good. Couldn't believe Holden wanted $62, when I could get it shipped in for cheaper. When I change it, will sink a can of Glen20 into the filter box, try and get rid of the current smell, not as bad a a cheese, but more potent ;)

Any other time, and you'd be calling the cops to separate me from the beer fridge. Unfortunately, I am here for my dad's funeral, and it's between pays, leaving me bugger all wiggle room. Hope the offer is still there next trip!

So proud of my Astra, made it here from Sydney using only 1 1/2 tanks of petrol.

Anyone know what I am up for to fix this, how hard it is to fix, and what is needed?

Using 100m/h tape to hold it up from the inside for the moment, then when I get paid, it will be a high priority, as my car can now be accessed via the window :/

Hey Guys,
Just wondering, for the electronic's illiterate, is there anywhere that can change the LED bulbs in the heater controls (white filter) and clock (don't know about filter, so got two) I was hoping to send them away, get the LED's swapped over, and sent back, the clock and heater controls are the only two Crazy LED's don't do...
Also, how to check filter on the clock? If it came from a car with white filter/diffuser on heater controls, does that mean white filter on clock?

How did you know it had a white filter? My 05 came with orange filters everywhere, speedo, heater, MFD. I had to order a heater control without a filter from eBay, I took out the filter for my MFD and replaced it with paper, it worked surprisingly well

Lol, I shamelessly pulled out the radio and empty din of 6 cars, until I found one. It's a 10 wire plug, so I am hoping mine is too, all the rest were orange filters.

Are you talking about the whole unit? Or just the front black panel?
Because the black panel with the filter in it is easily detachable:)

Not too sure what you mean, I am talking about finding a heater control panel with white filter (as per the Blue and White sticker on the front, in order to find it I removed the cars radio, completely, including the cage, and the tissue box din thing, after this I was able to push the heater control box in, after releasing the clips, revealing the sticker, barely through the radio unit gap.

The MFD, I have no idea wether it has a white filter, nor how to check, so I grabbed two, when I got it home, I shined an LED torch through the bulb gaps, and it came out a greyish colour, so I'm hoping they are both white filters.

As I have a 02 TS there is a 90% chance apparently that I have orange filters in my car. I have ordered the T5 blue LEDS in the correct size from the UK, so hope they a) fit and b) are bright enough, the only way I will be able to tell I guess is to install them in my car, or find the power wires and connect them to 12v.

I'll have to try this/milk carton if it does have orange diffuser, although I honestly don't think it does, as my led light shone straight through as a greyish white colour, not orange.

Yeah, I guess it's the nature of the beast with LED's, I got the rounded ones, with plastic to help, but it obviously isn't enough, so will try sanding the top plastic, then attempt a milk bottle diffuser if that doesn't work, don't know how hard it will be to insert diffuser though.

Ok, before I go nuts, and start webcaming my car, maybe someone here knows what it gets upto when I leave it alone...
The other morning, I went, started my car 5 mins before leaving, came back out to it, and it had stalled the engine, as if had no fuel left "apprently" although, I had put $10 of 95 in the night before, only driving 30km's after. The fuel light wasn't even on when I got home, and parked it for the night.
Then tonight, I went to pick up pizza on my way home, and before pulling in the car park, I checked the fuel gauge, and it said 1/2 a tank, literally 5 minutes later, I come back out, start the car and it's on 1/4! I wasn't parked on a hill or anything, and by the end of my 5 minute drive home from Eagle Boys, I had halfway between 1/4 and 1/2.

So, what on earth is going on, I lock my car(I live in the Western suburbs, so don't want my car to be stolen!) but somehow my car goes to parties after I leave it, and sniffs my petrol while at the parties!

Could the fuel sensor be gone? I know for sure I am the only person that drives it, as the missus couldn't get out of the driveway with it, as it's Manual.

Any other reasons it drinks while parked?

This is my general thread, where I ask all my behind the scenes questions. The Mfd once out of the dash shouldn't need to be opened up, the bulbs are in the back, the little white/green hex shaped things. No idea on the diffuser, I went to the wreckers, and got one without the amber diffuser. I then swapped MFD's over. The heater controls one is a whole plastic piece. That I had to swap over with the clear one from the wreckers.

Yeah, knew what they looked like, I had brought some cheap ones, and couldn't figure out why they weren't going in, they came in a 10 pack, thought that'll be plenty for MFD and speedo. but not a single one would go in, and after finally being able to pull it apart to figure out why, worked out there wasn't enough of a gap between the little solder thing. And the reflective type wing thing. So now I have used up all 10.

That's only what I could find, the rest have flung around the car somewhere

Oh, and one did work but if I went for a drive, it'll flicker on and off, everything in my dash is orange so I'm guessing that would mean it has an orange diffuser. But it certainly turned half the MFD blue, so I'm going straight onto crazy led now, don't have much of a choice now lol

I prefer the light spread of the Crazyleds.co.uk ones, they are quite delicate, I worked out the best thing for me was to use a set of Needlenose pliers to push them in, then give it a twist, making sure if there is any resistance to back off, and realign the wings.

Where abouts are you? If you have taken the centre console off, you should be able to see the Heater Controls true face, and it should have a sticker, White and Blue = clear diffuser, White, Blue and Orange = Amber diffuser.

Yeah, I have pointy nose pliers, but I worked out after pulling MFD apart, The solder and the plastic ( sorry was by back to front) were too close together to go on the MFD. If you get me.

Oh, well that's why it was bright blue, mine is clear diffuser lol
Thanks :)
Sooooo, just so I know I'm correct.

I need to;
buy a headlight switch with blue LED's in it.
Buy 3 packs of the astra G dash upgrade
??

It's a T5 mini from what I heard, which should be the bulb part, pulled apart from the body and wings of your LEDs that are broken.

Yep, they are good for everything but the cigarette lighter, I'll give you 4 reasons to use one of those cheap bulbs instead of a crazy LEDs bulb in it:
http://imgur.com/lBUMKxT

I pulled my Speedo out to change the bulbs in it, because I already had the bulbs sitting around to do it, but I have the filter, and don't want to pull the Speedo and needles apart, so left it as is then I will get an SRi Speedo instead.

So I changed the Cigarette Lighter bulb, went through 4 fuses thanks to the crazy LEDs bulbs(if at first you don't succeed, and all that) but, changing the bulb isn't really worth it, due to the orange ring around it.

Ok thanks,
My "orange ring" isn't that orange anyone haha, it's like a faded orange to clear, is that what they are meant to be like?

Yeah, it's meant to be an orange colour, which ruins the LED's colour.
