Hey,

I think it's time for me to get new brakes pads on my '01 Astra Non-ABS. I got a quote from Holden and as expected, i wanna tell them where to go.

Now, I have little knowledge on brakes so what do you guys/girls recommend i should get? I would like something better than what the stock ones are and maybe something that has very little brake dust.

Thanks,
Mitch

EBC V4 Greenstuff

For a Vectra it costs about $175 for fronts, and $90 for rears. I'm guessing the pricing with be similar for Astra's.

Negative on the Greenstuff.

Race Brakes RB74, I've yet to see a bad review on the pad. I did heaps of research comparing everything from Hawk to Ferodo to Endless to EBC to Pagid.

I've had them for 40,000kms and will get my 2nd set shortly. A few other members on here have also run them.

There was initial squeeling for the first day or two, but that was it.

Price? I got mine done two years ago, they were cheaper than $175 from memory for the fronts. But we'ev got different cars.

Dust? I couldn't tell a difference between OEM. But I've got factory wheels with fat spokes

Endless brake pads are very good. They bite well, produce very little dust, and they last long enough.

How many city Km's should you get to your pads???

Depends on how you drive and the car you have Em (abs/non-abs, pad compound, rotor efficiency)

I changed mine at 10,000kms (because the OEMs were too soft compound and I drove pretty hard)

I've gone 40,000kms on the RB74s and they at about 25%. I'll have to do rotors and pads in the next 10,000kms

RaceBrakes are on Newton Rd in Wetherill Park :)

Like I said, I haven't heard one bad remark on RB74s. EBCs however, well check out the MRT Forum on brakes, very informative!

I have Greenstuff pads and swear by them, I also have DBA slotted disc. I've tried heaps of pads including Endless, bendix etc and found the EBC to be the best in bite. Plus the added bonus that it's virtually dustless.

Haven't tried race brakes yet but if they produce the same amount of dust as OEM's I'll be sticking to EBC, I have chrome mags.
