Alright, I figured i'd start a thread to cover what I've been doing on my car lately and to show you all what i've done.

Well, the story goes... I picked up my Black 1.4L manual '01 Corsa C November of '03.

Then it came time to plan what I was going to do with the car.... and I'm fairly happy to say i've taken it to stage 1.

First thing I did was replace the head unit in the car in preparation for a quality stereo. The unit I chose to replace it was the Clarion DXZ835MP. So, with that I ordered a fascia adapter (http://home.iprimus.com.au/devroomefamily/images/reviews/huguide/huguide4.jpg) and wiring harness from the UK and got that installed.

Here is before:

And After:

Next came some outside aethetics... I got a custom 'break' sticker made... and ordered an OpelAus sticker from Frankie as seen here:

http://opelaus.com/phpBB2-3/files/1_209.jpg

Next, the 'holden' and 'barina' badges were removed from the tailgate, and I went about color coding parts under my bonnet.

Today I finished the under bonnet setup (for now... until I get a polished intake made up in the coming weeks), so I wanted to put up a thread to show you all... and figured i'd give you all a bit of history as well.

Without further delay, here is the pic of the engine bay now (note... i was forced to take the photo at night with the flash on so the photo isn't the best of quality)

So what do you all think of the engine bay? I'm trying to find out someone who will do replacement hoses for things like the oil and coolant lines as I would like them in yellow... so if anyone knows anywhere that can help me out let me know.

Looks greatHehe... yeah.... the car audio money dried up a little while ago... but VERY soon a pair of either Boston FS60's or Hertz HKS165's will go in with some nice fibreglass pods ;)

Why pods? FS60s/HSK165s are 2-ways and a 6.5in fits in the factory woofer position with a bit of massaging.

You've seen my kicks yeah?

You've seen my kicks yeah? No, I haven't seen your kicks. I figured there wasn't enough depth behind to get them in without putting in some THICK spacers... so I figured pods would likely be neater.

That said, i'd be very keen to hear how you went about your split install.

Pete's install is possibly one of the best installs (worldwide) in a corsa/barina.

If I were you, (it's trevor isn't it??) I would SERIOUSLY try hard to get your splits behind the original locations, due to the fact that custom work, by what I've heard is very expensive! (for a perfect job) - and in all honesty, your car is basically as new, so don't skimp and ruin it with tacky panels, etc. 8)

Yeah, its Trev.

I'm not newbie to audio gear and know Pete as a fellow Fast Fours Forum - Audio Talk junkie.

Pete, was it you who got Marty to help you with the install? (Marty told me he had helped someone do an install into a Corsa C when I was talking to him about getting a wiring harness ages back).

With my install, I was wanting to put the splits in the same factory location, but I wanted to make a fibreglass pod for the location so I could neatly mount the tweeter low in the kick panel as well. The staging of having the tweeter high is far from optimal :(

Marty did my install aswell, and mounted the FS60's into the factory locations and put the tweeter into the factory kick panel too.

BTW Trev, what paint did you use on your engine bay.

Yellow and white hey? Either you've got a thing for fried eggs or you're taking the opel colours to a new extent 8)

I reccomend an opel badge/decal for the rectangular recess on the engine cover :!:

Donnie: you're too kind

Trev: I'll send you pics via PM. Another quality install by Fhrx Studios :)

I reccomend an opel badge/decal for the rectangular recess on the engine cover :!:I used standard heat proof paint @ $13 a can from Super Cheap.

All surfaces were sanded and prepped before painting, but I did not use an undercoat.

As for the color choice... the oil and coolant caps are yellow standard... I haven't touched them at all (i'd prefer if they were white :P).

As for the opel badge.... definitely not. The entire theme of my car is simple, and clean.

and by coincidence, white, yellow (and blue) happen to be the official opel colours!

Pirate: Don't get a big head

That said.... if I could find a way to get the caps light blue I would do it straight away :P

hence the coincidence!

But yes, blue caps would suit it nicely. Why not have the caps sprayed professionally?

Why not have the caps sprayed professionally? Its not worth the insane amount of $$$ they will charge for it.

But yeah... next part of the car is a cat-back exhaust, polishing intake + pod and some vinyl graphics for the sides of the car (nothing riceboy... just some simple stripe design.. costing ~$135 for both sides).

this might interest you (apply the same logic, and procedure to the barina perhaps?)

http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/showthread.php?t=146440&page=1I'm actually going to partly use the standard airbox... but increase the air intake size to the front of the car. The top of the airbox will be removed and the pod will sit in the cavity left there. I then plan on fabricating a shield for it.

Here is a pic of the vinyl design i'm sorting out. I'm getting it done in white, for $135 for both sides.
