Need to replace my fuel pump as the car won't start unless the fuel tank is bashed with a rubber mallet. I know access is under the rear seats. Just wondering how difficult it is. Does anybody have some simple instructions. Do I need to do anything to prep e.g. Take out pump relay etc?

Thanks for the help!

I didn't do anything to prep mine. Didn't find any hoses with residual fuel pressure in them.

Access is easy - you just lift up the flap in the carpet and lever the cover out with a flat blade screwdriver.

Once the cover is off, you can see the fuel lines which unclip from the top of the tank. When these are unclipped you tap the locking ring anticlockwise until it comes free.

It's then just a case of undoing the internal fuel lines and unclipping the pump from it's mounts.

disconnect battery.
get hose clamp pliers like these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181286449282
don't break anything.
metal ring that locks fuel pump in is very tight. you will need a hammer and blunt tool to turn it.

pull assembly out and replace pump out of car.

do not damage level sender unit.
