I bought the misses a Kindle a few years back and she loves it.

Looking at getting one for myself.

Have been eyeing off the new Kindle Whitepaper with built in lighting. Anyone have one of these yet?

Or have any other models/brands to check out

Bought the last one direct from the States, was cheaper/easier.

Do Kobo's have the lighting?

I've had a Kindle Whitepaper for the past 9 months or so and love it. Never had a e-book reader before but use this all the time now, i leave wifi off unless i know i'm updating it and battery lasts for a couple of months. Read the last few Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) books on it, they are tomes but never found reading on it a struggle or an eye strain. Bought from the States as well.

Ok so the kobo glo is the only one that is lit. It was $99 in the xmas sale.

I bought a kobo glo for my niece for Christmas. Lucky they dropped the rrp from $160 to $99 a few days before Christmas.

Who says being last minute Christmas shopping doesn't pay off!

To be honest at 6 inches you may as well buy a cheap tablet.

I have a tablet John, they are shit for reading books on.

The lighting isn't designed for it. Puts more strain on your eyes than necessary and the battery life is shit comparatively

Fair enough Pete, I don't read eBooks so never knew that.

Yer the proper e-book readers use e-ink.

So only use power when you turn a page. The misses reads every night and charges her maybe twice a month

That's pretty damn nifty.

I have an older Kindle (I think 2nd Gen) and I absolutely love it. Stav has the same one and she thinks the same. E-ink is the way to go. TBH I know you can get the Kindle fire etc with Android/tablet capabilities but I reckon a dedicated e-book reader is the way to go.

Got our Kindles direct from Amazon as well - they came in a few days.
