How dumb/ham fisted a driver could you be if you can't do a burnout in a car?

Purely a 'wank factor' option that has no relevance to any other functionality of the car imo. Still would be cool to have a go at though.

Can't wait for the Top Gear review. I can already hear Clarakson, "The stupid fat Americans can't even do proper burnout in a rwd v8, so they installed this button "

*cue Clarkson and Mustang smoke show*

It no doubt will be 90k or so, when they are paying 35k, so not many will be on the road anyway.
I was waiting for the FJ Cruiser to turn up (Toyota) in RHD, and the USA had it for 23.999K and when it arrived here, 49k! same spec there or there abouts

Well, if they are a fair price, in relation to what our US cousins are paying, then so will I.
But they wont be

Old man works for ford. Hopefully fingers crossed that they might get a staff price limited buy or something...
And ill be getting the turbo one as well...

I hope for you they do.
But only the GT 500 would interest me. Approx $36 in the States a year and a bit ago when I looked. I am sure then there are options, but if the had a GT500 here for $45k I would be straight down to the dealer.
Keeping my OPC though

I don't think the four banger would be that bad. Seems like it's got a decent amount of power and it might result in a Mustang that actually handles. Having said that, at least they're using the NA version of the V8. Nothing against the FPV version of the engine, but you'd think an engine that came out at 307kw in stock form would've translated into a fair amount more than the 315-335kw with a blower attached.

I'm guessing if they do a GT500 or some other limited edition, it'll be supercharged and make some ridiculous amount of power that'll have the Greens up in arms everytime one is started up.

It'll also poses the question to GM, if Ford can sell the Mustang in every corner of the world, why not do the same with the Camaro? Oh wait, that's right. GM don't believe there's a market for anywhere else in the world for anything other crappy Korean-built econoboxes.

Thats one of the reasons why I like the four banger. Plenty of poke and room for good subtle upgrades. Yes the v8 is what heaps of people want, but peraonally a boosted 4 spunding like a jet taking off past other v8s out there wouod put a smile on my dial... :-D

pffft...It would be more interesting if Chrysler bought over the Challenger or Charger.... kabel ...thoughts on that?

As much as I like the old and even the new Charger, still I'm one of those who believes a Charger should be a 2 door, not that I'd complain if it were sold here. Don't know if you've seen it Theo, but there's a white Challenger getting around Adelaide with black striping. That's one car that looks awesome in pics, but even more so in the flesh. I've seen it parked in the western end of Sturt Street, as well as around Brompton and West Thebarton.

I get your point, but the ''Mustang'' has to be a V8. It was the point of the car.
My brother looked to import the Camaro, and to get the conversion etc, 140K AUD. That is just plain outrageous when the car is 35 grand
The FJ Cruiser from Toyota was 24K in the USA, and 49K here. If it was 24 grand it would kill off the Land Cruiser and Hilux, which is a big market here.
We are getting shafted, and while we all like to point a finger at the Government, I am not so sure they are completely at fault here.

Wasnt always a v8. They had a weasy 6cyl back in the day and they have a v6 in the states I believe.

I know, but I remember ''Bullet'' and ''Gone in 60 secs'' the original even!
That Red Mustang at the top of this page, just would not sound right in a 4 or even a 6 to me.
When you think of a Camaro, you probably thin of the 68 or 69 SS right? Big V8 sound, fat rear tyres......

+1 !
There was a picture of a new Charger taken in Victoria last year, car had full rego and was apparently owned by GMH (think the photo was in Chrysler Action magazine).
A new Didge Viper sitting in local Chrysler showrooms would be a crowd stopper.
Be interesting to see how the product line develops in the next few years.

I actually really like the styling on the new Mustang and the pricing seems really good.
Less of a fan of the Camaro`s styling but the Corvette on the other hand.

True, but maybe it's a good idea in the name of progress. We don't know how quick it will be yet. But I'd imagine with the turbo, it'll hardly be glacial.

Might be an adoption of the current focus st motor with different tune. And the focus is no slouch.

Then that's a brilliant entry level model for the new Mustang. The purists can go for tradition whilst those who prefer cheaper tax rates (especially in Europe where V8 drivers get raped!!!) can enjoy a marvellous power unit moulded to an American icon's body. I see this as a winning situation personally. Besides, it's not like they've added a diesel to the line up :D

I reckon it's fantastic that the Mustang will be landed in Oz !!!

Should be a great addition to the choice list for car enthusiasts in this Country...

As for that secret burnout feature, bloody hell the person who came up with that one and then the people who actually made it reality should be buried alive, must be trying to appeal to a 12 year old demogarphic or something which such a stupid thing...totally idiotic.

A feature like that should stay on Need For Speed, totally agree Ange. But will be a huge buying factor for Aussie bogans lol

Hmmm, maybe GMH can include it in their VF Commodore line up then to get more sales before they shut shop, I'm sure the boguns buying the new super powerful VF GTS would love that feature LOL...

only one problem is the $400,000 price tag which the aust gov get's $100,000 in tax off them each, all of them are at autosmith on the gold coast in QLD
