$400 Barina worth it to learn manual?

Hey guys,

As some of you know I had my first experience in manual the other day and DIDN'T suck at it!

This was when I thought my TS would need a new engine and was considering the jump to a SRi-T or even a H-era turbo.

Unfortunately it was my mate's car at his Dad's place out whoop whoop so I could only have a quick burn around in it before giving it back.

Dropped my TS at the mechanics the other day and noticed a Barina (same era as my TS, around 2001 I'd guess?) with screwed up paint and asked him about it. Turns out it's mechanically fine, but no one's buying it because it's paint looks like ass (also a horrible green colour).

What do you guys thing? Should I pick it up for $400 just so I have something of my own to learn manual in?

If I do I'm totally going to re-paint it myself :P

Do it. For $400 it'll be good fun anyway. I'd say for that price, it'd be a Corsa B.

I initially learnt / got my P's in an auto, but the first car that was in my budget, was a manual (which i went ahead and bought anyway). So i went out and had some lessons in a manual car and the RTA (NSW) made me do the test a second time because it was a different transmission (does not apply for fully licensed drivers FYI). Best decision i ever made.

Once on green ps you can drive any transmission in a car. I did the same. Got reds on auto, and got a manual car on greens. But I had been driving manuals on the farm since I was 8... lolz

Haha alrighty I'll have a look when I go and pick up my TS (if I ever do :( )

And yeah I just got my auto license for my Ps, but have been on my full for a while now and have been meaning to learn just ran out of time.

Seems like it opens up options as well for when buying another car to not limit it to auto...... Also Sri-t..... Awwww yis.

I learned manual from the start and highly recommend it. Even if you don't enjoy driving a manual on a daily basis, just being able to if needed is a good idea. But we are all car enthusiasts here so I think we can agree, manual is a hell of a lot more fun.
