So here's Nissan's new IDx concept car that they just unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. Thoughts and opinions?

I was really hoping that the car would draw visual inspiration from the 240z like rumours suggested. It would also line up well with their open claims of targeting the GT-86/BRZ.

It is still a concept though, I'm sure they will iron out the design.

Yeah, the "Hakosuka" Skyline. I love them.

Not a fan. It's just another car to add to the way overdone 'retro' thing.

Hmmm, odd ball looking in my eyes

Usually concepts look a lot better than the watered down end products, but in this case hopefully the final product ends up looking better...

I really like it. I'm happy they didn't go with some random futuristic design.
Euro modern cars need to have chunky noses to comply with pedestrian impact regulations. Not sure why this car has that though being Jap.

The big question is will they offer it in manual? The formula looks good, Datsun in beginning + retro styling, the door handle straps and bonnet mirrors are really nice touches.
Definitely shades of the Hako and 70's inspired shapes.

I'm guessing the engine will be the 1.6T from the Tida/Renault 200T...say maybe 220ish HP for the IDX by the time it launches?

I think they are on to a winner. As long they keep it reasonably light and focus on chassis balance it will get well reviewed.

Well from what I have been lead to believe thus far, it's supposed to be a 1.6T with a 6 speed manual transmission driving the back wheels.

From what I see of the headlights on what appears to be the road car, it definitely looks like a 70s Datsun, 1600 / 510 series in particular.

It could wear the Datsun name too, considering they recently launched the brand in India.
