Hey does anyone know any ideas I can do to make the vectra more fuel efficient? Last time I filled up was 28 litres every 233 kms I use bp 98 octane have been using same petrol for the last 4000kms since I have had the car. Thats not from empty tank I had about a quarter left.

He only has the 2.2 4cyl.

If your only filling up with 28L your not using your whole tank...
What do you usually get out of a full tank?

28l is from a quarter tank though Aaron. If you're getting 233kms to 28 litres thats not too bad.

Works out to be approx 8.3km/l

- what kind of driving do you do? City peak hour or open road?
- how aggressive are you with the accelerator?
- what are your tire pressures like?

I reckon the wagon was reasonably thirsty too, but that's also automatic. Can't remember exact figures, seeing as I haven't driven it in 6 months.

going by what you've said. try lifting the right foot a little and you should see much better fuel economy.

If you really want to get serious about saving fuel. do some reading up on hypermiling. http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/hypermiling/hypermiling-techniques
theres a few very decent forums for it around with heaps of info. All it really comes down to though is changing the way you drive. You might be able to double your fuel economy with a bit of practice.

Sounds pretty normal for your car then - as Guy said - take it easy on the throttle and you'll see some improvement. An auto will use more as well.

I had a 2.2 manual and commuting in peak hour melbourne traffic with a light foot I would still be averaging mid 10's/100km. When I would put my foot down all the time - then 11-12 was what I would see as well.

When I was working for a while in the country (50km each way of 2 lane country Rd @ 100km/h) - my car would average around 7L/100km.
