idling when first start up

Hi all I might just be picking on stuff wrong with the vec when I first start it it revs really high to like 2, 000 rpm then goes back down after a few secs so just thinking I should fix this I have cleaned the throttle body but still have the problem normally does it on cold start up. Can anyone give me any other ideas thanks

Check out the temperature sender. It may be giving faulty temperature readings and thus the car is trying to compensate!

Also if it's persistent when not cold.. I remember a few times I manually adjusted the idle range. So check to see if the nut (that controls the level the idle sits at) isn't loose on yours!
