I thought the kahn's could be had in 5x110?

Make sure with the bolt pattern that it's right, unless you get "blanks" and get the holes drilled, that would be the best option (costs more)....
Offset for a 17x7" wheel (best sizing) would want to be about 43mm-45mm, if it's 49mm it will look like they sit in a long way, 41mm or so will probably hit the side guards, they will definately hit the plastic lining in the wheel arch (rear) with weight!

Go the Kahns. Look the biz. As Kid said...offset/PCD is already available in Kahns.

BTW - Welcome to the site!

I doubt there is anything dodgy about the wheel holes or the Hub on the Astra. Check out Astra-Sport.co.uk as they have PLENTY of people on their forums who have 5 stud astras with rims.
The only thing is that its hard to find a large variety of wheels for our stud pattern in Australia.

If you are going to lower it a LOT (like 40-60mm) then you may have trouble with rubbing the inner guards (more on the rear than the front).... you'd want offset of 45 or so i'd say at a minimum

You need to mention the offset when you buy the wheels. 45 to 49 for 18's otherwise its gonna rub. But even then you can only drop to 40mm. If you wanna go any more than 40mm make sure your insurance company knows about it if you want to be covered.
Cheers

The kahn's i'd imagine would come in the european fitments though.
