I am considering purchase of car ramps to facilitate oil changing, etc. Will the amount of old oil trapped be a concern?

Will be about half a litre at the most depending on angle.
If you're doing changes within 10k km it shouldn't be an issue especially if you are using decent oil

Your best to jack it up, then lower and raise to rid all the old oil. Where's your oil filter located?

Thanks Guy27 and Mickos, oil filter is accessed from above so it is not a problem.

On the 1.8 engines, the sump drain plug is located towards the back of the car, so if you have it up on ramps, it should drain out near on perfectly.

Assuming you can get the front spoiler to clear the ramps to get up them (on Barina SRi)... i haven't managed yet! :)
