Yeah I got a 2.25 inch from the cat into a 4" Cannon style muffler. I'll post a photo up in a minute.

when i asked for a 2.5 inch cat back.. they wouldnt even put it on for me.. they said it was too big..

so its only 2" for me..

You would lose power with a 2.5". Biggest I would go is 2.25", I used to have a 2".

ive got 4-2-1 hurricane headers, hi-flo cat then 2" straight thru system consisting of a small 'hotdog' resonator in the middle and a cannon out back.

yeah 2.5" is too big, 2.25" would be the largest u wanna go

my x-force cannon sounded louder and the cannon was smaller..

rite now i'v got a huge exhuast no name and its deeper but not as loud..

i'v got that hotdog aswell..

hey mitch.. does your exhuast rumble when idling? like can you hear it when you in the front half of the car?

i can only hear it when i'm at the back now.. i'v got 1 like yours..

Yeah I can hear it all the time. When I had the 2" with hot dog it was 86db and now with the 2.25" straight through it's well over 100db and it's very very loud.

At idle it's quiet and sounds very nice, no rumble, just a slight burble....
at WOT it sounds very 'euro' i.e. doesn't sound like a can :) it's not THAT loud either and is comfortable on the freeway, etc, etc even flat out!

Very true, I have a V6 Calibra which I'm just itching to put an exhaust on,

Yeah matey, thats coz u gotta a snail hanging off ur motor too 8) Turbo will actually suppress some sound too.

i'm looking at getting a full system done for my car..although I'm having a few problems with exhaust shops not knowing anything about astras :roll:

Is the TR astra 1.8 the same engine as the TS 1.8? Mine's the Z18XE, so the TR would be the X18XE or something wouldn't it? They said they have extractors made for the TR 1.8 which can be modified to fit my engine, so thought I'd find out first.

@ astra_city, check out liverpool exhaust (AKA hurricane headers) these guys built 4-2-1's for my Barina SRi which has Z18XE. they could prolly fudge it it suit the astra :)

3" stainless mandrel bent system... there is a cat there but I'm sure as hell there is nothing inside it.. :twisted: and a tanabe muffler on the end which is pretty much straight through.....

I've got a mate with a straight through 2.5" and i thought his was loud. Yours would be loud as full throttle @ about 6000rpm :wink:

not really on a turbo engine it can be as big as you want really as the turbo provides enough back pressure for the engine....

no hot dog nothing.. just from turbo to cat (with nothing in it I'm sure) then to straight through muffler....

the system was on the car when I got it and is FUKN LOUD... but its nice some times.. :D
