Hi guys,

Haven't had a chance to come here for a long time.

Just a quick one. Is there such module for "Reduced Voltage High Beam Daytime Running Lights"? I know it is quite a mouthful. I believe it is common previously with Volkswagens. Just wondering if someone already make such plug and play module. There is no place to put LED's on Calibra without major mods, unfortunately. Where can I get such thing?

It will be like this:

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand what you are trying to achieve.

All those lights look like to me are the standard lights with front fog lights.

He wants to run the main beam headlights at reduced voltage during the day as running lights. Main beam because it isn't shaped like dip beam, and reduced voltage so it isn't dazzling. Not an uncommon mod ~20 years ago in countries that mandated running lights...

low voltage main (high) beam is how VW do their DRL on their current models without LEDs, he wants to make it like a golf.

As per photo, main beam is running on say 6v instead of 12v

What your wanting is possible, try a good auto elec they may be able to rig something up...

Thanks guys, now you guys mentioned it, I started looking at VWs on the road. You are right, current VW's have this, I thought the older ones do.

Anyway, I found some things like:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/380535196848
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190723611099
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330890017519

However, most of them are for dipped beam, not main beam. I assume connecting it to main beam instead wouldn't be a problem.

Next question:
Where do I find the "ignition +12V"?

Those modules, unlike Philips DRLs who only need to be connected to Constant 12V, and assume that the engine is running when the voltage is above 13.2V or something like that, need to be connected to "Ignition +12V" to detect the engine is running.

Those modules won't reduce voltage, they will just active the circuit when they detect the engine is running
