Hi all,
Very out of touch with all things Holden now, anyone know if the Tigra CC is due here at all, and if so, when?
I read some reviews and saw some pics and I want one!
Thanks for any help :o

Well there has been talk of re-releasing a Cabrio Barina previously. Since there is no ACTUAL Corsa/Barina Cabrio in the current shape. Debate has been speculated that the Tigra (with the same engines as the Barina) may indeed be marketed as a Barina Cabrio/Convertible.

But as far as I know. No firm word on this.

i doubt that we will get that in aust at all.

You mean the Tigra Twin Top? Doubt it

I think the new Tigra is very much on the agenda for Australia. Its based on the current Barina. Would sell well in the low 30's bracket (like the 206 CC).

As for the Barina Cabrio... that was a complete flop.

don't lie! it's a sporty little thing that's nice and zippy when you need to get down to the shops in a hurry. you can even take the roof off in summer which is pretty cool and fun, and of course the red ones go faster.

i don't lie.. it was a butchered 3 door barina city... it was a flop.. simply fact. sorry.

According to this story: http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/3447F8CE1E4C3FE9CA256F7900088EC0 it sounds like the Tigra is being considered by Holden's for distribution in the near future.

Hmmm . . . could be tempting. Nice little runabout for the weekends!

hmmm very interesting...

better have a biger engine than the barina... or it wont sell for the $30,000 price.... astra H's are around that price... cheaper if ur lucky....

them bastards!!!

couldnt they put the 2.0L or even the 2.2L engine in it....

its not gonna sell for the $30,000 they are gonna put on it with a tiny engine like that.... even though they are a "convertible"...

i would definately be interested if they were a turbo convertible tho.....

Well they seem to sell enough 206CCs and the base model comes with a 1.6L and cost OVER $30K

next year i'll buy you a copy of "sarcasm 101" for christmas.. good book

Please read it before sending it to me... :P here i thought i had a offended a previous Cabrio owner - lol

they don't need anything bigger than 1.8, they would wanna keep the weight down. it just needs to be tuned to higher power output. improved breathing, timing etc.
Looks better than the megane, but I think unless the sales of Astra convertible have waned off, it may be deemed to be too much competition with its own lineup.

The latest Goauto newsletter suggests that the Tigra Twintop will be released at the 2005 Sydney Motorshow.

2004 Holden Barina/Opel Corsa
2004 Holden Barina convertible

If the Mitsu Colt doesn't raise you're blood pressure, then how about the new Barina, or Corsa as its known in its Europe?

Not only is it getting an all-new look, but we even have the first Australian shots of the Barina convertible - and boy, is it hot!

And forget soft-tops, which increase wind-noise, insurance repayments and hassle - this little German-built four-wheeler gets a retractable hard top roof - just think Peugeot 206cc.

Largely in response to Ford's StreetKa, which isn't coming to Australia because of its high price, the new Barina range will ship in late 2003 (in Europe).

Powered by 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines, there are rumours that the next-generation Barina will even get GM's Ecotec 2.0-litre turbocharged mill. Now that would be something.

Word is that the new Corsa/Barina will go for a minimalistic interior - but don't expect that to mean cheap...

Entry-level prices aren't expected to jump, though the convertible will be offered at a premium.

i have sat in the new tigra, looks nice and sporty, not a hell lot of room, 1.8lt is the largest the engine capacity comes in, same performance really as the new astra SRi 1.8 without the sports switch

BassyAstra
8th March 2005, 11:30 PM
Have you sat in it with the top down, much head room?
Also is it a 7 speaker set up?
What do u think of it as a girls or guys car?

aussie_in_london
8th March 2005, 11:50 PM
top was off so not sure of the head room
nice car but wouldnt buy one myself, prefer the new astra and would
if buying again go for the new astra sports. Front end of the tigra does remind me of the new astra but i would believe it will be more popular with the girls.
Not sure how many speakers it has, not sure they would be able to fit 7 in

Ahh ok, just askin because now this has come out ive got a choice of the 3 door H or the Tigra.
It would be cool to have a convertible though.
Thanks.

Plus, the Tigra CC will look EXTREMELY ugly inside if there's a decent display in it. I spare you the pics.

And as soon as you've got something different than the Triple-Info-Display, you'll have a HUGE "hunchbackback of Notre Dame"-like Thingie in your center console that's almost higher than the steering wheel...

the astra 3 door is on display at some vauxhall dealers prior to release, might try and find a dealer near by and check it out

[...] this little German-built four-wheeler gets a retractable hard top roof - just think Peugeot 206cc. [...]

It's built (as the Peugeot 206CC) by Heuliez in France! But shhh, don't tell anybody.

;)
