Hi Everyone,

So I have a CDTI Astra 2008 auto.

It has been a great car right upto last year when EGR went and I had to replace it. It appears my Holden dealer wasnt cleaning it during servicing. Ive also managed to loose my service book which is a real bitch. But I have service records from the dealer.

At the moment Im trying to do two things:

1. Generate a security code. It was in the book :(
2. Get my tranmission serviced.. ECN 170000 and 070000

So Im looking for any help with the above but happy to provide advice on EGR which have learned all about ;)

Cheers

Gus

Pity to hear you are having troubles. The Manual is a real screamer, I don't really know anything about how the autos are to drive.

Hi all.
So updates. Im in Barossa Valley which is SA. It was a blaupunkt but with GM number and not a BP which I have since learned is difficult but I figured it out...eventually. I had my transmission fixed by a Transmission specialist and NOT Holden who I have learned have not been clearing error codes off my ECN for 2 years... Not happy Jan! But its fixed and drives fine again. Price was VERY reasonable for Trans service and fix $180. Will be taking it back there for full service soon. If Im honest I was worried as the place looked ol skool with basic garage from outside. But inside it was kitted out well with full diagnostic gear and they had plenty of cars out front and inside. Audi, BMW, VW, Holden, Ford you name it. So I gave it ago and it paid off. If anyone needs a Mechanic in the Gawler, SA area PM me.
It still needs glow plugs though as Im still getting one code from pedal test post clearing. So I will order those soon as theres a service coming up and I can get it done then. I had read they can be a bitch to get out and if you break them you are screwed so Im not game.
Thanks everyone.

Mine's going in for a service tomorrow, and I've asked about having the glow plugs replaced as it shows the 0380XX code too. I'll let you know how much it was and if it was worth it just to get rid of a code.

Car went in for a service, with a prior notification to them requesting changing all four, and the reply came back from my wife that they ran out of time to check which ones were causing the code, and to come back another time. I doubt it.

That's too bad.. I was keen to hear your results. The code 038008 is back... I believe its causing the car to go limp mode based on my research on line and the fact I'm 120k in, this looks to be first replacement listed anywhere in the book. I dont have a multimeter to test but I think thats what it is. I purchased the glow plugs (4) for $71 NGK YE07. Hopefully the mechanic doesn't sting me too much to put em in.

Ill post back with results. Cheers.

Have never replaced glow plugs but it wouldnt be more difficult than replacing regular plugs wouldnt it ? Might have some more things to get out of the way to gain access but I guess its not that difficult at all.

So I'm still waiting on plugs but I now get ecn 112252 and 112052. Pedal fail. It's just had its second pedal (wreckers) so I'm thinking it's something else like ecu? Or wiring. HELP. Not sure where to start. The wife wants the car gone.... HELP. Where's the ecu and what wiring should I check? HELP

So the plugs were a complete cock up and I didn't get em. But I had the opportunity to connect an eml327 cable to the car ecu. Found that its one plug and the voltage on multimeter test was 10.8v acceptable. I must emphasize I have no starting issues. My understanding is glow plugs are for ignition. My limp mode issues are indeed egr related. I got the error codes and more importantly manifold inlet pressure data. This indicated a leak. Further inspection found a leak in the exhaust inlet. Fixed and we are running fine. I even went as far as to blank the inlet. The next issue is remapping the ecu to ignore the egr.
