I know it's not really a question about opels but it has some HSV's ;) I asked this in OCAU as well but thought some help from you knowledgable guys owuldn't go astray.

So basically my dad's getting a new car come February 2005 and this is the criteria.
- $45000-$70000
- New or MAX of two years (has to have at least 1 year of warranty left) old but in PERFECT condition
- 0-100kmh in less than 7 seconds (the quicker the better)
- Very comfortable and fully featured
- 4 door sedan

So these are the cars we're deciding between atm (hehe I'll also drive it whenever I get the chance).
- New Subaru Liberty GT Sportshift
- New Subaru Liberty 3.0R-B 6sp Manual
- New Mazda MPS (if it comes out by then)
- New HSV Clubsport
- New FPV GT
- 2002 HSV SENATOR VX II Signature for $52990 at Carsales (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=2079487&current_rec=148&total_rec=508&sort_type=4&search_distance=25&price_min=40000&price_max=70000&state_id=8)
- 2003 HOLDEN CAPRICE WK for $59990 at Carsales (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=1985691&current_rec=57&total_rec=508&sort_type=4&search_distance=25&price_min=40000&price_max=70000&state_id=8)
- 2004 HSV CLUBSPORT Y Series 2 R8 for $63990 at Carsales (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=2009132&current_rec=10&total_rec=591&sort_type=4&search_distance=25&cs_body_id=2&door_num=4&engine_low=2000&year_min=2002&km_max=40000&state_id=8)
- 2004 FPV GT-P BA for $62999 at Carsales (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=1857940&current_rec=11&total_rec=591&sort_type=4&search_distance=25&cs_body_id=2&door_num=4&engine_low=2000&year_min=2002&km_max=40000&state_id=8)
- SUBARU, LIBERTY 3.0R B MY05 for $48990 at Drive (http://www.drive.com.au/used_cars/subaru/liberty/perth/detail.aspx?id=1933037&pg=1&pp=4&d=0&nv=1)

My dads basically doing the same thing come march.. he's currently looking at either a Holden Senator, a Calais, or the GT liberty Sportshift.

Id say either the Clubby or the GT Liberty.

Depends what your dads looking for in the looks department. If he wants a car with stand-out looks then the Clubby would be the best optiopn but if he just wants a car with power and a little subtle on the looks then the GT.

My dad wont get a clubby for the reason its too kitted up and noticeble, hed prefer a car that looked like every other car on the road but with the power behind it

theres my 2 cents

I'd say Clubsport.

has to be the new one though cause it has the alloytech hehe

Err... Alloytech is the new V6, I'd wanna hope that if I bought a new VZ Clubsport it would come with the new LS2 6.0L.

Why u only lookin at the GT Sportshift and not the Manual (quicker, better fuel economy and cheaper). Thats what my vote would go on.

I know clubsports and FPV GT's are exceptional cars, but i think they're a bit too standard, the liberty is ultra quick and heaps less common.

Thats my 2 cents.

i would seriously go the New Subaru Liberty 3.0R-B 6sp Manual. ive read nothing but good reviews on these cars, and my dad is always pointing them out in the paper (i think he is also quite interested). we have always had suby's and they have never let us down. thats just my point of view...

I would say the Liberty GT or even Forrester GT, just to throw a new one in the mix. 8)

I love V8's, however HSV's DO NOT HOLD THEIR VALUE as much as a Subaru.
So if your dad is thinking that far ahead, It has to be a Subaru Liberty.
By the way petrol in Melbourne is tipped to hit $1.30 per Litre (reg) over the Easter break. OUCH

Id be getting one of the Suby 3.0lt

Fine, except one of the criteria was a 0-100km/h time of 7 seconds or less.. The 3L Subaru is not even close . It's an 8+ second car. A Falcon XT can beat them at the lights.

A Liberty GT is a much faster car.
