could be on to something good if it makes it to Aus.
considering the astra was one of the most popular convertibles around this could be a winner for aus.

Highly sought our newest model of the genus Cabriolet is already long. Since today it's official: The Opel convertible will be called "Cascada". The Spanish word for waterfall reminiscent of flowing forms, Fresh, just pure open-air driving experience. Very apt, as we find - matching we first show what it takes to Cascada.

Particularly noteworthy is the high quality fabric roof of the elegant four-seater, which can be opened by pressing a button while driving (up to 50 km / h). Of 4.70 meters in length and the positioning in the middle class are the ancestors of the Cascada rather prestigious Opel convertibles of the 1950s and 1960s to captain and record-based than the compact convertible models of the 1990s and 2000s. In time for the fresh air of the season 2013 Opel Cascada rolls to the customer - the next spring will come for ...

Is this what has been floating around in spy pics as the Astra convertible? Those lines are beautiful!

I do believe it's meant to be here sometime next year if what we heard from the local dealer was true.

+1 IIRC we were told the mokka, convertible astra (no names had been announced at the time) and 1 other model was highly likely, although not confirmed yet. I really hope they make another commercial vehicle, aka astra van. I love my van to bits and plan on keeping it forever if possible but I'd love a newer model...

Tentative Q1 release as informed by a Opel Manager is the Astra OPC. Hence also why they are encouraging deposits on them to speed up the process.

Mokka and Vert were confirmed for 2013. Already registered plates for all of the above.

Really nice profile! Be heavy though so hopefully it's got some poke.

those half pictures really annoyed me. i wonna see more. so fat the lines on the convertible look good. the roof looks like its part of the car (an i making sense here? too many convertibles have a roof which doesn't go with the lines of the car)

Yeah the roof flows nicely! Would be nice to see the whole thing as the roof profile is nice but the overall could be brought down by some ugly bumpers etc

There's already a previous thread on this one started a while back by 'Imay' :)

And yes it's a fine looking vert...

Apologies, I didn't see the date - don't know what date the other one Ian posted up was either though...

Not to worry :)

Just thinking would've been nice to see a tin top on this thing, maybe that's reserved for the new AJ Astra twin top vert ??

Still don't see the point of a twin top vert

Like any hard top vert you end up with a proper 'CC' or coupe convertible ie. 2 cars in 1...

Of course it's only for people who want that sort of thing (me for one) and there's a huge market out there for verts :)

Wish I had the budget for one of the future upcoming Lotus hard top verts

I see the point in a hard top vert, i see the point in a soft top vert

But why bother with both in one vehicle, that's what I don't get

A hard top vert is seen and can be used as both a coupe and a convertible that's the 2 cars in one...

With some of them you can't even tell they're a convertible like said people who enjoy both types of vehicle don't have to buy one of each to enjoy both vehicle styles, I know a guy who has an E92 320d CC for that exact reason, he wanted an E92 coupe but also loves convertibles there's his choice of 2 for 1:)

I didn't think the Cascada was a twintop... From what I've seen its soft top only.

I'm yet to hear any word of there being an Astra convertible in the new range.

Cascada was always going to be a soft top.

Same here, only seen some cammo'd pics of what is supposed to be the new AJ convertible but it could've been a sedan for all we know lets wait and see personally I believe they will produce a tin top Astra vert to compete with VW's range of both soft and hard top verts...

There are rumours that VW will drop the EOS (not replace it). The other manufacturers seem to be slowly dropping their hard top convertibles as well.

It will be interesting to see if that happens...

I've always known that the main aspect against hard top verts from a manufacturers point of view is their high cost compared with the equivalent soft top costing alot less to produce...

Then there's always the complaint about the limited boot or cargo space when the hard top is retracted compared with a soft top...

Personally that woudln't worry me so much and I love soft tops for obvious reasons but would choose or take a hard top over a soft top if it came down to if you could only have one configuration :)
