ATT NERDS: I'm looking at getting a new tv for my bedroom. I want 50''... my bedroom is huge and its a good 5/6m from my bed to the wall it will be mounted on. So 50'' won't be too big/out of place (I currently have a 26''/30'' and it looks like a gps screen on top of my drawers) I just don't know what I want in regards to led/lcd/plasma etc. I don't want 3d as the glasses give me really bad headaches. It will be used 75% for tv/foxtel mainly sports channels and 25% for consoles but I want also want to be able to connect a few things up to it. (Foxtel box, Xbox, Wii, DVD/bluray, and a ps3 soon) I have a budget of $1000 max and want something that will last me a while. So what do you guys reccomend that will meet my needs?

Thanks heaps for the help!!!!

that budget will only get you a plasma, maybe an LCD on a really good special

personally myself a huge fan of samsung, but look at lg or panasonic too

Yeah my old man got a 50'' plasma for $850ish. I don't have a clue what I'm looking for in regards to the ratios etc, some have like 360,000:1 and I saw some with 2,000,000:1 I really don't wanna spend any more for a bedroom tv. If it was main lounge room then I wouldn't think twice about spending 3/4k for 3d/smart tv/led etc, etc. I just don't want shit.

dont worry about those if its a bedroom tv

all it is is basically how many steps from the blackest black to the whitest white

just buy what he did :p

I wouldnt buy one second hand tbh, could have dead pixels, screen burn in things like that

get a new one with warranty

Nah I wouldn't buy a used tv like that. I was more comparing the 2 specs wise. To me they are like identicle tv's but there will obviously be differences haha. I might just do that actually.

Big W were recently selling 50" for 598. That sale is now finished but regular price is 698. I can't remember anything else about it (being in layby I just put the sale through I don't look at anything else) but I will check for you and report back on my break :)

Ok so what I mentioned earlier are now 498. It's a Sanyo 50" 1080P LCD resolution is 1920x1080 brightness 350 nits contrast ratio 4000:1. Don't know what half of that means but thought I would put it in for you! Not sure if that price is just Victoria though. The product code is 8273716 if you want to do a ring around

Why the Kogan hate? $700 for a 50" LED is way cheap.

I see, I've never purchased from them but I do intend to. A colleague of mine purchased through them and had a negative experience too.
Kind of weary about my upcoming purchase.
Thanks for the heads up.
