It's not over priced either. Cheers guy, I didn't want to buy a dud to replace the old.

I remember that test. Shocking how poorly all the super expensive jap brands went and this 3A racing pod blew everything out of the water.

The 3" ones fit the Astra G don't they? I'm sure my old one was 3" Just making sure.

Hmm, so it flows ridiculous amounts of air. I'm not sure that translates to better.
-How does it flow under normal conditions
-How does it flow after 10 000kms
-How does it filter after 10 000kms
-How does it handle heat from engine bays, and does it still filter as well under such heat
Could be awesome but I think there are other points to consider also.

And none of that can really be tested unless you put in the time, money and effort to test it yourself...
It wasn't just that the 3a outflowed all the others, but it outfiltered them too!
Seeing as though you could buy 4 of these pods for the price of 1 k&n+ cleaning kit your point is kind of moot... Also a pod shouldn't be seeing any heat as it should be sealed off... If you don't seal it there's no point having it...

Rules and regulations are there for a reason, a mate of mine fabricated a chrome seal to increase the amount of cold air and he had a k&n and it worked a charm.
If this filter out filters and more air gets into it, in theory it should work even better.

More airflow = less filtering. If u drive ur car in fairly clean enviroment its fine, but if u drive in somewhere with mass dust and dirt stick with paper filter or an oiled one.

Yeah, I think that's what ruined my old pod. I lived in the national park for a while, in the winter it seemed to work fine with just a small heat shield but in the summer, idling in traffic I'd find it'd have a pretty moot pickup.
Where I'm moving is a whole new story , and I've managed to pick up this pod for a bargain, and I've got a proper heat shield this time so all should be good. + dat induction noize

not according to the result of the test
that's why it was so shocking

A dry, cheap filter outfiltered and outflowed everything else...
it would be really hilarious if it was just a one-off/fluke and 3a/simota have made heaps off that one test

I can scan the test if anyone is interested?

also worth a look

shows that the difference of flow is marginal/pointless in a standard car

Lescandale

Yeah, I understand that the performance gains really are only marginal.
That's why I wouldn't be willing to spend mass money on one.
I also enjoy the noise it makes.

if your after noise then deff get an enclosed pod

I'm after the noise in a sense but I want to convince the rational side of my brain that I want it to help the car breathe.
I'm deffs going to enclose it, I don't want any reason to be defected in my first year of having a license anyway.

yeah... trust me, if it didn't come with the computer I would have nothing to do with it
all my remaining faith went away last weekend when it let in some malware that hid all my programs and documents and then told me my hard drive just shat itself... that was a fun few hours of removal... :mad5:
